Product Validation & Certification Engineer

(Type Testing, EMI/EMC & Regulatory Compliance)

Join Siemens Smart Infrastructure – Electrification & Automation. Play a key role in ensuring our substation and distribution automation products meet global regulatory, safety, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. You will own product qualification, type testing, and certification activities from development through market release, working closely with R&D teams and accredited certification laboratories worldwide.

The Role

·       Lead product validation, qualification, and type testing activities for embedded electronic products used in substation and distribution automation.

·       Plan, execute, document, and review internal laboratory tests and coordinate certification programs with external accredited test laboratories.

·       Drive global regulatory compliance and certification activities to support product releases in international markets.

Key Responsibilities

·       Prepare validation strategies, test plans, protocols, reports, and certification documentation.

·       Conduct and supervise EMI/EMC, environmental, mechanical, electrical safety, and reliability testing in Siemens laboratories.

·       Coordinate and execute certification testing with external laboratories and certification bodies.

·       Analyze test results, investigate non-conformities, drive corrective actions, and support design improvements.

·       Interpret standards and regulatory requirements and translate them into product requirements and test specifications.

·       Support project teams during product development reviews and release milestones.

·       Maintain certification records and ensure continuous compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

·       Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, system, and quality teams.

Required Technical Expertise

·       Strong expertise in EMI/EMC compliance and testing methodologies.

·       Hands-on experience with product qualification and validation of embedded products and systems.

·       Excellent understanding of electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and certification requirements.

·       Knowledge of voltage disturbances, grounding systems, power system reliability, and environmental testing.

·       Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and technical writing skills.

Certification & Regulatory Knowledge

·       CE, UL, FCC, ISED, RED, IECEE CB Scheme and similar international certifications.

·       Experience working with notified bodies, certification agencies, and third-party test laboratories.

·       Knowledge of market access requirements for global product certifications.

Qualifications & Experience

·       B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.

·       3-8 years of experience in product validation, certification, type testing, or regulatory compliance.

·       Experience in substation automation, protection relays, distribution automation, or industrial embedded systems is highly desirable.

·       Willingness to travel to certification laboratories and customer locations as required.
