Accounts Payable Specialist - Bowie, MD

Overview

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), Center for Computing Sciences, located in Bowie, MD, has an immediate opening for a Part-time as needed Accounts Payable Specialist role. 

This opening is located at IDA’s Center for Computing Sciences in Bowie, Maryland (CCS). IDA offers a superior professional working environment. The Part-time position verifies and prepares invoices for payment for the CCS facility, ensuring that all forms are complete and are in accordance with all applicable IDA practice and procedures.

Responsibilities:

·         Utilizes Costpoint to conduct quality assurance checks on incoming vendor invoices for compliance, accuracy, and structural completeness.

·         Facilitates prompt vendor payments by verifying source documentation, reconciling balances, and accurately processing invoice batches through the general ledger.

·         Reconciles check registers and balances general ledger accounts, resolves routine operational discrepancies, and escalates unresolved system issues to management.

·         Manages data processing, physical-to-digital scanning, and localized information archiving systems.  Maintains internal network integrity by securely transferring financial records to designated corporate storage drives and shared infrastructure.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·         High school diploma or equivalent, and four years of work experience performing any combination of general accounting and/or office support.

·         Demonstrated ability to follow prescribed procedures in a timely and accurate manner, with discretion.

·         Demonstrated ability to operate effectively under deadlines with tact and diplomacy.

·         Previous experience using Deltek Costpoint Accounting System required.

·         Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

·         MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation:

While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $51,084-$81,735. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, unique skills and qualifications, and other relevant factors.
