Work as part of the Product Development Team from concept definition through production release of advanced wireless communication products including 5G Mobile Hotspots and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) products.

The Staff Hardware Engineer owns the design, implementation, validation, and production support of all hardware subsystems outside of RF and antenna development. This role works closely with RF, antenna, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver high-volume commercial products.

The ideal candidate combines strong architecture and design skills with hands-on lab debugging experience and the ability to independently execute complex hardware development projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Own hardware architecture, schematic design, and validation of digital and mixed-signal subsystems.
  • Design processor support circuitry including memory, power management, battery charging, USB, Ethernet, PCIe, SIM, and display interfaces.
  • Develop hardware specifications and design documentation.
  • Perform component selection, supplier evaluation, and technical tradeoff analysis.
  • Lead PCB layout reviews and provide guidance on signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with RF, antenna, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, bench debugging, validation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Develop and execute validation plans to ensure compliance with product requirements.
  • Support EVT, DVT, PVT, carrier certification, manufacturing ramp, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Strong background in digital and mixed-signal hardware design.
  • Experience developing processor-based systems including memory, power management, charging, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Experience with LPDDR4/LPDDR5, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, and battery-powered embedded products.
  • Strong understanding of low-power design techniques and power management architectures.
  • Experience supporting high-volume commercial product development from concept through production.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and PCB layout best practices.
  • Strong board-level troubleshooting and lab debugging skills.
  • Working knowledge of LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, or other wireless communication products.
  • Experience with Qualcomm chipsets and Cadence design tools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.

Education:

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred.
  • Staff Level: 8+ years of relevant hardware development experience preferred.
  • Exceptional candidates with less experience and demonstrated growth potential may also be considered.
