About the Role

As a Backend Service Developer, you will develop and maintain backend microservices using Java and the Spring ecosystem. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver reliable services and resolve technical issues.

What You Will Do

Backend and Microservice Development

• Develop, test, and maintain backend microservices using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Implement REST APIs, business logic, and integrations with internal services and external systems.
• Use Python for supporting services, integration tasks, or automation where appropriate.
• Contribute to Vue.js integration or related UI changes when required, while keeping backend development as the primary responsibility.
• Follow agreed architecture, API contracts, coding standards, and development guidelines.
• Implement appropriate validation, authentication, authorization, error handling, logging, and configuration management.
• Troubleshoot service issues and improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Database Development

• Design and maintain data models, queries, and persistence logic.
• Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Apply suitable indexing, transaction handling, and query optimization techniques for the chosen database.
• Maintain data integrity and support database changes as application requirements evolve.

Testing, Code Quality, and Dependency Remediation

• Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit and participate in integration testing.
• Review SonarQube findings and resolve relevant code quality and security issues.
• Investigate and remediate open-source dependency findings reported by Black Duck, including dependency upgrades or replacements where appropriate.
• Validate changes through tests and relevant scans to avoid regressions.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain clear technical documentation.

Containerization and Deployment

• Build and maintain Docker images for backend services.
• Work with Kubernetes deployment environments and application configuration.
• Support service deployment, rollout verification, and troubleshooting using logs, events, and health checks.
• Collaborate with DevOps and operations teams on CI/CD and environment-related issues.

Communication and Collaboration

• Communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify requirements, API behavior, dependencies, and integration expectations.
• Work closely with technical leads, frontend developers, QA, and operations teams.
• Explain technical issues and proposed solutions clearly and provide timely progress updates.
• Raise risks and blockers early and follow through on agreed actions.

What You Need to Be Successful

• At least 2~3 years of professional software development experience, including hands-on backend service development.
• Strong Java development skills and practical experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Experience developing and maintaining microservices and REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of Python and Vue.js for supporting development and application integration; backend development remains the primary focus.
• Practical experience with one or more databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, including data modeling and query development.
• Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and validating changes through automated testing.
• Familiarity with SonarQube code scanning and resolving reported code quality and security findings.
• Familiarity with Black Duck scanning results and remediation of open-source dependency vulnerabilities or compliance findings.
• Experience building Docker images and working with Kubernetes deployment environments.
• Familiarity with Git, code review workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong internal and external communication skills, with the ability to clarify requirements and collaborate effectively across teams.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Experience developing services or tools using Go (Golang).
• Experience with multiple database technologies across relational and document databases.
• Familiarity with microservice resilience patterns, service discovery, and centralized configuration.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed services in production.
