This role forms part of our state-of-the-art Distribution Centre, employing first class technology, and is an African first for workwear. A Customisation facility has been built as part of our Distribution Centre and is geared to serve our customers with high quality customised garments, quickly and efficiently. The customisation facility consists of embroidery, screen printing, digital printing, taping and alterations. Collaborating with, and supporting our customers is how we show our commitment to growing their brand along with ours.
The DC Shift Supervisor will work as part of the Leadership team at the Distribution Centre, responsible for overseeing the daily/nightly operations of the warehouse. The individual will be expected to work different shift patterns, along with the rest of the team.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
Control, oversee and direct the activities across the Distribution Centre teams and ensure the functional systems are in place daily.
Investigate and report on all service levels internally from picking through to dispatch.
Manage, control and report all Health and Safety, Maintenance and Security defects.
Manage and co-ordinate any overtime required.
Manage and control the entire department ensuring the online checkout requirements, custom packaging and bottle necks are controlled for the smooth flow of product through to the Dispatch / Invoicing area.
Ensure that warehouse equipment is maintained according to the requirements of the Company.
Lead the team through setting an example, guiding and developing the team; anticipate challenges and opportunities and respond to problems efficiently.
Proactively deal with people or operational issues, and escalate to the Warehouse Leader, where appropriate.
Work to tight deadlines in a demanding, high-volume warehouse.
Collaborate closely with the broader DC leadership team including the customisation facility ensuring daily KPI's are met.
The experience we’re looking for:
Worked with Warehouse Management Systems, preferably also RFID, barcode scanning, picking and packing.
3-5 years’ supervisory warehousing experience, ideally within large, modern FMCG or Clothing Retail DCs.
Able to manage a team of approximately 35 – 40 staff.
Computer Literate using MS Office (including very good Excel), Syspro, WMS - Datascope and PowerBI systems.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Valid driver’s licence with own reliable transport.
