The Buyer plays a key role in our production organization. They are responsible for sourcing and purchasing products from vendors, suppliers, or manufacturers on behalf of DC Machine. They will work closely with the Planner to keep the right amount of inventory in house for assembly. This position requires exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. The ability to multitask, prioritize, and communicate effectively in written and verbal formats is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Manage inventory stock levels in order to meet production demand.
- Correlates forecasts and demand to develop long term procurement plan.
- Maintains excellent relationships with vendor representatives.
- Identifies and eliminates raw material “Stock out” issues.
- Strives for ongoing self-improvement through additional training.
- Initiates continuous process improvements.
- Creates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools.
- Arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required.
- Ensures that adequate inventory and safety stock levels are maintained.
- Tracks status of purchase orders and product shipments
- Holds vendors accountable for shipment dates and quality.
- Manages MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) in Oracle NET Suite or similar system.
- Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiations process and terms with vendors, and recommends vendors based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
- Completes work orders and ensures WIP accuracy in the ERP system.
- Plan production based on internal forecasts, customer demand, and material availability.
- Communicates material shortages and schedule changes to production in a timely manner.
- Works with the R&D engineering team for the development of new products.
- Processes packing slips for incoming shipments and completes the item receipt in the MRP system.
- Resolves all purchase order and invoice price discrepancies.
- Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Four years’ experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills

- Strong Microsoft Excel abilities

Occasionally additional hours may be optional or mandatory to complete essential tasks. All work is performed within an office environment with occasional warehouse exposure.
The Buyer will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The Buyer may be required to lift objects weighing from less than 20lbs to 40lbs on rare occasions. May also be required to walk and stand for long periods.
