Responsible for the safe and efficient cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of flexible endoscopes and other medical devices for reuse. Duties include operating specialist machinery, recording tasks via track and trace software, and adhering to ISO 13485 quality standards.
Candidates must be literate, numerate, and physically fit with evidence of working in a team or quality-led production environment. While a decontamination qualification is desirable, full training and mentoring are provided to the successful candidate.

An excellent opportunity to join our friendly, diverse team, in a busy environment and playing an important role providing clean and safe flexible endoscopes and other medical devices for our patients.
Working in the Endoscopy Decontamination Unit, part of the Hospital Sterilization and Disinfection Unit (HSDU) the technician is responsible for ensuring these specialist medical devices are safely and efficiently cleaned, stored and prepared for reuse. The job requires the technician to work standing and focussed for extended periods of activity, moving heavy and awkward loads and exposure to contaminated instruments and hazardous chemicals. The machines and equipment used require regular maintenance and testing. The unit is registered compliant through the Quality Standard ISO 13485.
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be willing to develop these skills.
Attention to detail, an inquisitive mind and the ability to work individually and as part of a team will be advantageous.
The ideal candidates will have an interest/curiosity in manufacturing processes and will be physically fit and focused to carry out inspection, cleaning and high level disinfection of medical devices used in Theatres, Urology, Surgical Outpatients, Respiratory and ENT services.
Full training will be provided and the successful candidate will be mentored until a level of competence is achieved. This role provides an opportunity to develop and progress and can include study towards a professional qualification.
