Full job description

THE ROLE

The Senior Technical Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding and optimizing the technical performance of WiseEnergy’s global solar PV portfolio. This position is responsible for ensuring high levels of asset availability and strong performance ratios across all sites, while proactively identifying and resolving technical issues that may impact operations. Acting as a key technical reference, the role bridges operational performance with strategic objectives.

In close collaboration with O&M contractors and internal stakeholders, the Senior Technical Analyst oversees technical operations, ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and serves as the primary technical interface with clients. Through effective coordination of site activities, reporting, and technical documentation, this role ensures the highest standards of operational excellence across the portfolio.

Beyond day-to-day operations, the role contributes to continuous improvement and long-term business success. By mentoring junior analysts, driving process optimization, and strengthening technical capabilities within the team, the Senior Technical Analyst directly supports WiseEnergy’s mission to maximize asset value and deliver reliable, sustainable energy solutions across the global renewable energy market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and analyse daily technical and operational performance of solar PV plants, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Detect, investigate, resolve, and prevent incidents to optimise plant availability and performance ratios.
  • Support portfolio supervision and contribute to technical analysis and strategic decision-making alongside senior stakeholders.
  • Manage O&M contractor relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and high service delivery standards.
  • Act as the main technical interface with clients, providing expert insights and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Coordinate O&M handovers, site visits, punch lists, and technical documentation to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality technical performance reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insights.
  • Support compliance with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), insurers, and relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and overall asset performance.
  • Lead team activities, including workload planning, team meetings, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Mentor, train, and support junior analysts, promoting knowledge sharing, best practices, and professional development.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (in English and Spanish/Portuguese advantageous) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to put together well-written, grammatically correct emails, presentations and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate and engaging.
  • Time management & prioritization skills - the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical.
  • Fast Learner – Our US portfolio spans multiple states (New York, Virginia and North Carolina) with differing PPAs and regulatory requirements in each. Being able to quickly digest, learn and adapt to these differing challenges is key
  • Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelt out in your job description.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail, capable of interpreting complex contracts, regulations, and financial data.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to manage contracts, disputes, and external counterparties.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to assess risks, identify opportunities, and optimize asset performance.
  • Project management skills, with experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters.
  • IT literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data, particularly Excel.
  • Passion for our mission ‘to generate a more sustainable future by leading the transition to clean energy.
  • Our values: be a leader, build trust, be responsible, be innovative and ‘bring your alpha’.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a relevant science discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the solar PV sector, ideally within a developer, asset management company, or engineering consultancy.
  • Solid background in managing PV portfolios, performance analysis, and root cause identification of site issues.
  • Proven experience handling O&M handovers and claims with manufacturers (modules, inverters, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-level meetings with clients and stakeholders. Experience working in international environments is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory). Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience using PVsyst.
  • Availability to travel internationally

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A busy role in a supportive team, with plenty of opportunities to learn.
  • International scope – we operate in over 8 countries.
  • Hybrid working – we will need you in the central Madrid/Seville at least twice a week, but you will normally be able to work remotely for the remainder of the week. If the position is in Milan you will have two days of remote working.
  • 38 days’ holiday per year (including local bank holidays and 3 of which are taken during the festive shutdown in December).
  • Sanitas Healthcare for you and qualifying dependents.
  • Annual discretionary bonus.
