As a Mobile Backend Software Engineer within the Digital Factory, you will play a key role in designing, building, and evolving backend services and APIs that power mobile applications, while contributing to integration with enterprise platforms and cloud services. Working as part of a cross-functional engineering team, you will actively contribute to technical decisions, backend architecture, and coding standards, while collaborating closely with product, mobile, and other backend teams.

About the Role

We are looking to hire an experienced and passionate Mobile Backend Software Engineer to join Digital Factory. The new team member will be part of a dynamic development team, working primarily with Java and Spring Boot to design and implement backend services that support mobile applications. The role also includes creating and maintaining RESTful APIs, ensuring efficient, secure, and reliable data flows and integrations with upstream systems (e.g. microservices, Salesforce, Azure services).

The role involves owning features end-to-end, making sound design decisions, and balancing product and engineering trade-offs. This role is ideal for someone with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn. The engineer should be able to work independently, write well-structured and maintainable code, and actively contribute to improving backend architecture and practices.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop, design and maintain backend services for mobile applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• Implement and evolve RESTful APIs ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

• Own non-trivial features end-to-end, including design, development, testing, and deployment.

• Integrate backend services with upstream systems (microservices, Mule, Salesforce, Azure services) across multiple environments and regions.

• Collaborate with mobile developers, backend engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless integration.

• Write clean, testable, well-structured, and maintainable code following best practices.

• Drive and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and maintaining high coding standards.

• Troubleshoot and debug issues in backend services and API interactions.

• Contribute to technical design discussions, architecture decisions, and backend standards.

• Mentor and support junior engineers through knowledge sharing and code reviews.

• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices, particularly in mobile backend technologies.

• Proactively identify improvements to backend performance, reliability, and developer experience.

• Provide clear communication on progress, challenges, and ideas for improving backend performance and reliability.

About Your Experience and Skills

Education

• University or college degree with specialization in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent.

Experience

• 3–6 years of professional experience in software development, with strong focus on Java backend development.

• Hands-on experience with RESTful API implementation and backend system integration.

• Experience with mobile backend systems is a strong plus.

Professional and Technical Competencies

• Solid, hands-on knowledge of Java and strong experience with Spring Boot.

• Understanding of RESTful API design principles and hands-on experience in building APIs.

• Experience with Git (branching strategies, pull requests, and code review practices).

• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL; NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, Redis, Cosmos DB) is a plus.

• Understanding of system integration and working with upstream/third-party services.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Azure Entra ID).

• Experience with GraphQL is a plus.

• Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
