About this role
Position Summary
The Custodian/Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary facilities through routine custodial services and specialized floor care. This position performs daily cleaning tasks along with floor maintenance such as stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care to ensure a professional appearance and compliance with safety and health standards.
Key Responsibilities
General Custodial Duties
Perform daily cleaning of restrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and designated spaces
Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect surfaces
Remove trash and replace liners
Replenish paper products and soap supplies
Follow site-specific cleaning schedules and procedures
Maintain equipment and supplies in clean and working order
Other duties as assigned
Floor Care / Specialty Tasks
Strip, wax, buff, and refinish hard floors
Operate floor machines including buffers, burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and extractors
Shampoo and extract carpets
Perform spot cleaning and stain removal
Maintain proper floor appearance and safety standards
Other duties as assigned
Other responsibilities
Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and chemical handling procedures
Use cleaning products according to SDS and manufacturer guidelines
Report hazards, incidents, or maintenance concerns promptly
Properly store chemicals and equipment
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior custodial and floor care experience required
Working knowledge of floor care equipment and products
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Valid driver's license required
Work Environment and Schedule
This position requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive motion, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Employees must be able to safely operate floor machines and cleaning equipment, perform occasional overhead cleaning, and use mops and tools for extended periods. Work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and wet floors, and may require evening, night, or weekend shifts based on contract needs. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
