About this role

JOB TITLE: Sewer

DEPARTMENT: Sewing

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Cutting/Sewing Supervisor, the sewer is primarily responsible for performing efficient operation of sewing machines in an assembly line setting, using single needle, double needle, double welt, boxing/border, and zipper machines. Sewers need to utilize the best production methods and produce the best quality products possible.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operating industrial sewing machine using a foot petal to sew parts, for both cushion and flatwork to meet production schedule
Working with complex fabric, need to be very detailed and quality minded
Uses both hands and arms while guiding, pushing, pulling & stretching fabric while sewing
Uses hands to twist, turn & tighten knobs
Cuts fabric with scissors while holding fabric

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to comprehend tickets/specs to ensure accuracy
Responsible for being efficient and meeting quality standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

2+ years of sewing experience
