Organisation Overview
Fighting Blindness is a national charity committed to advancing research into degenerative sight loss while providing practical and emotional support to those affected. The Insight Counselling Service delivers tailored, high-quality counselling and support services to individuals living with sight loss, alongside peer support and wellbeing initiatives.
Role Overview
This role is designed for a fully accredited therapist with strong clinical expertise and the operational skills to manage administrative aspects of a support service. The Support Manager will serve as the first point of contact for clients, manage some day-to-day operational and administrative functions with existing internal support, and provide clinical support to the Insight Counselling Service.
The ideal candidate will combine a clinical skillset with operational and organisational experience, ensuring that the service runs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of client care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for client enquiries, intake, and referrals.
Ensure the highest clinical governance standards, and monitor a small cohort of outside counsellors,
Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards as set by relevant governing bodies (PSI, IACP, IAHIP).
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the Insight Counselling Service, including scheduling, client communications, and service coordination.
Maintain and update client records, waiting lists, and relevant documentation.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and management of contracted counsellors and volunteers.
Assist in reporting activity and outcomes to the funders as required.
Help identify efficiencies and improvements in service delivery and administrative processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the wider team to deliver and promote a high-quality, integrated support service.
Complete funding and grant applications, providing operational and clinical input where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
Fully accredited therapist (PSI, IAHIP, IACP, or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience.
Experience in providing therapy to adults; experience with clients with visual impairment is highly desirable.
Strong organisational and administrative skills, including experience managing client-facing services.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with organisational policies and clinical governance standards.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding requirements (e.g., Children First, Adult Safeguarding, GDPR).
