Provides strategic leadership and direction for all VSA projects and missions to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and within scope. Manages a complex portfolio and coordinates between technical staff, senior leadership, and external partners like NASA Wallops.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Engineering and at least eight years of leadership experience in strategic and technical operations. PMP certification is strongly preferred, along with a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a NASA credential.
General Description: Provides leadership and strategic planning and direction for all VSA projects and missions. The Deputy Director responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects and missions on time, within budget, and within scope. Ensures stakeholders, engineers, and technical staff meet technical, cost, and schedule deliverables as agreed upon. Verifies all programmatic and regulatory requirements are met. Prepare reports and brief senior leadership regarding status of project(s) and mission(s).
Job-Related Experience: Eight (8) years of direct, practical work experience in the workplace providing strategic, technical, operations, financial and managerial leadership to implement project activities successfully. Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.
Licenses, etc.: Valid driver's license is necessary when operating a vehicle while on agency business.
Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of required operational support functions such as logistics, procurement, contracts, equipment maintenance, quality assurance-related process control systems, safety programs related to industrial operations, and environmental regulations as applied to support functions.
