Here’s our Current Opening:

Position: People Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director, People Team

Division: People

Location: 800 Bay Street, Toronto, ON M3S3N9, CAN

What You’ll Be Doing:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports CUPE labor relations activities, including collective agreement administration, issue tracking, meeting coordination, and preparation for collective bargaining processes.
  • Supports managers with disciplinary, grievance, and termination processes and provides guidance on labor relations best practices.
  • Provides employee relations support to People Managers and helps ensure consistent, fair, and timely resolution of workplace matters.
  • Acts as the HR lead for the downtown and North York Joint Health and Safety Committees and coordinates related follow-up actions.
  • Coordinates WSIB reporting, monitors follow-up requirements, and arranges first aid training for employees.
  • Supports annual compliance reporting and maintains accurate records related to labor, health and safety, and People operations.
  • Administers employee benefits and pension processes and liaises with U of T, Green Shield, Sun Life (LTD), and UPP
  • Coordinates the recruitment process, including job descriptions, postings, assessment reviews, reference checks, and onboarding support.
  • Initiates and coordinates the performance review process for salaried staff.
  • Prepares employment confirmations, reference letters, and other related People documentation.
  • Supports employee recognition and appreciation activities and contributes to other related HR duties as assigned.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post secondary education in Business Administration or Human Resources
  • 3-5 years related HR experience in a unionized environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Maintains confidentiality and professional working
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle data with
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Conscientious, efficient, dependable, with a positive attitude
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication
  • Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning is highly valued – a growth
