Position Summary:

The Provider Medical Assistant is responsible for a range of administrative tasks, assisting with patient care, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. They will be the primary point of contact between the client, providers, and third parties such as pharmacies, laboratories, and other facilities.

RESPONSIBLITIES

 

  • Greet and check-in patients prior to appointments.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, schedule/confirm appointments.
  • Maintain and request patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Process patient payments and insurance authorizations.
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
  • Take and record patient vital signs and blood glucose levels when requested.
  • Administer and/or observe self-administration of medications and administer injections as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and phlebotomy procedures, including collecting samples/specimens.
  • Provide patient education and support.
  • Serve as the primary contact between the patient, provider, and third parties.
  • Conduct medication room audits in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation within client charts.
  • Attend all required meetings and participate appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the limits of licensing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant program

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a medical office, residential treatment facility, hospital, or outpatient clinic setting preferred
  • Proficiency in medical software and electronic health records (EHR)

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

  • Active Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Valid drivers license, insurance, and 5 years’ driving experience required
