How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Coordinator, Community Outreach & Education is responsible for supporting the development, and coordination of assigned education, training and/or community-based programs, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to effectively advance TRCA’s strategic goals.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, Membership and Business Engagement, the Coordinator, conducts activities to support Partners in Project Green’s communications, engagement and membership objectives. This includes designing and executing events, including event marketing; coordinating and leading engagement programs; and helping to enhance membership value and recognition. Other duties include identifying and securing events or program sponsorship and creating content for and updating the Partners in Project Green website.

 

Partners in Project Green is a community of leaders advancing environmental action and economic prosperity across the GTA. Comprised of businesses, government, institutions and utilities, PPG works to collectively advance social and environmental sustainability through knowledge sharing, technology and infrastructure implementation, and network building.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizes the logistics, communications, and plans for the execution of projects and events
  • Designs, develops and delivers a variety of innovative events and programs to engage diverse audiences in sustainability initiatives, community capacity building and connections 
  • Monitors, reports and tracks metrics related to event and program deliverables, while undertaking research into industry best practices
  • Meets with internal and external stakeholders as required to support the execution of education and training and events
  • Designs and deliver tailored marketing and promotion including letters, flyers, signage, newsletters, website, and social media content
  • Supports financial tracking and reporting as well as sustainability of metrics

 

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Business, Event Management, Communications, or a related field

 

 

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience providing program coordinator or administration; Relationship / account management; sales / business development; event or membership management; marketing and/or communications

 

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences
  • Ability to engage with partners and the public and communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
  • Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines  
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
  • Familiar with Zoom and other online event platforms; familiar with e-mail marketing platforms (e.g. MailChimp); familiar with website platforms (e.g. WordPress); account or membership management; generalized sustainability knowledge, ideally related to the ICI sector; sales; business writing; marketing; grant writing
