Officer, Board Stewardship

The Public Theater is seeking an enthusiastic, thoughtful, and detail-oriented arts administrator for the position of Officer, Board Stewardship. This individual will report to the Senior Director, Development, and work closely with the Major Gifts team, Executive Office (including the Deputy Administrative Chief of Staff), and other teams across the institution. 

The Officer, Board Stewardship will play an integral role in helping The Public meet its ambitious fundraising goals, supporting relationship management for The Public’s 50+ Trustees, including their programmatic engagement and participation in donor affinity groups, and aiding frontline fundraisers in their efforts to cultivate prospective Board members. The position will also support the Senior Director, Development with Development Department administration, including scheduling, project management, revenue & expense budgeting, and other administrative functions. 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional stewardship support for The Public’s Board of Trustees and build strong relationships with Trustees and other leadership donors 
  • Ensure the fulfillment of benefits for all members of the Board of Trustees
  • Support the Senior Director, Development, and Director of Major Gifts with the project management of leadership donor councils, production support stewardship, and programmatic engagement 
  • Submit gift forms for annual fund and capital campaign contributions from Trustees
  • Prepare and manage acknowledgment letters, thank you notes, invoices, renewal letters/emails, and other Board stewardship/solicitation correspondence
  • Support the Development team’s Board prospecting efforts through research, briefing memo creation, scheduling, and communications
  • Support the Senior Director, Development and Executive Office with materials creation & reporting for the Advancement Committee and Nominating& Governance Committee
  • Provide daily administrative support to Senior Director, Development, including internal and external meeting scheduling, agenda/briefing creation, and departmental communications
  • Track Board revenue projections across the annual fund & gala and liaise with Finance and Development on regular revenue projections and reconciliation 
  • Manage expense reporting for the Senior Director of Development, as well as the departmental expense budget
  • Serve as back-up in the TrusteeTix email inbox, providing extraordinary customer service and ticketing support
  • Document Trustee-related activity and upkeep Board records in Tessitura
  • Participate in regular in-person special events and fundraisers throughout the season 
  • Provide other administrative logistical support / other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a non-profit or for-profit; fundraising or ticketing experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of and passion for the theater/performing arts industry a must
  • Problem-solver and creative thinker with the ability to multi-task, establish priorities, pivot quickly, and perform under tight deadlines in a very fast-paced environment 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and effectively express ideas and thoughts
  • Ability to interact at the highest level with a wide range of constituencies 
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a large, highly-efficient team
  • Exceptional initiative, attention to detail, and discretion 
  • Experience with Tessitura (or similar CRM); fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Canva or similar design software a plus 
  • Must be able to attend regular evening events and performances as necessary; occasional weekend events required

Compensation & Benefits 
The salary for this position is $75,000 annually. This position is available immediately. This is a full-time, Exempt position in accordance with the Fair Labor and Standards Act. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of in-person work 3+ days per week. The Public Theater offers a robust slate of benefits for full-time employees, which currently include:
