Full job description

About us
London Marathon Events (part of the London Marathon Group) works to inspire, champion and increase activity in all ages, abilities and demographics. We do this through our successful event portfolio (which includes the TCS London Marathon and TCS Mini London Marathon, Brighton Marathon, The Big Half, Vitality London 10,000, Vitality Westminster Mile, Standard Chartered Great City Race and Swim Serpentine), through our extensive outreach programmes working with schools and community groups in London and across the UK and through our network of wholly owned or partially owned companies, such as Maverick, Run 4 Wales, Loch Ness Marathon Ltd, Caledonian Concepts, Athletic Ventures and Friday Night Lights

Our events raise millions for charities every year to improve the lives of individuals and communities and we passionately believe in the power of sport.

Our values are integral to who we are, how we work and what we do:

Caring - We value each other, our customers and the positive impact we make
Curious - We open our minds to new ideas, perspectives and ways of working
Exceptional - We strive to be the best and to redefine the art of the possible
Fun - We create joy, happiness and memories that last a lifetime

Diversity, inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do, and we want to ensure they are at the heart of our company. We strongly value diversity within our workforce and recognise that different people bring different perspectives, lived experience, ideas and culture to the company. This difference brings with it great strengths, including diversity of thought. So, if you’re ready to be a force for good, lead change and want to make a difference to society, keep reading.

This role will close for application on Monday 29th June.

The Role
A high-impact, hybrid role combining executive support, business management, and delivery oversight.
You will act as a force multiplier to the Group CFO & COO as the business grows and expands both domestically and internationally — ensuring priorities are clear, time is optimised, and key projects move forward at pace. You will also provide flexible support across Heads of Department (Finance, Optimisation, Sustainability, Procurement, Governance, Facilities) stepping in where capacity is constrained to unblock progress and maintain momentum.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the organisation end-to-end—across financial/commercial performance, strategic growth and long term impact. You will be exposed to senior decision-making, high-profile projects, and the realities of delivering at scale.
This is not a traditional EA role. It requires strong commercial awareness, analytical capability, and the judgement to operate independently while staying closely aligned to leadership priorities.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to make a tangible impact, build a broad and practical skillset, and play a meaningful role in shaping how the organisation delivers its objectives.

Key Responsibilities
1. Executive Support
  • Manage complex diary, inbox, and meeting cadence to optimise time and decision-making
  • Anticipate priorities and prepare briefings, materials, and talking points
  • Ensure meetings are purposeful (clear agendas, outputs, follow-ups)
  • Act as a gatekeeper and facilitator across internal and external stakeholders
2. Business Management & Prioritisation
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear, trackable actions
  • Maintain oversight of key initiatives across the department
  • Identify bottlenecks and intervene to keep delivery on track
  • Support Heads of Department where capacity is stretched—redistributing workload pragmatically
3. Project & Delivery Support
  • Own or support delivery of cross-functional projects (from scoping through execution)
  • Turn high-level ideas into structured plans with milestones, owners, and timelines.
  • Track progress and ensure accountability across stakeholders
  • Leverage and embed AI tools within the overall department to improve efficiency, insight, and ways of working—acting as a practical champion for experimentation and continuous improvement
4. Commercial & Financial Support
  • Support with board packs, financial narratives, and key deliverables
  • Provide light-touch analysis and synthesis of complex information
  • Review commercial and legal documents (e.g. contracts, term sheets), distilling key points, risks, and issues into clear, decision-ready summaries
5. Stakeholder & Team Support
  • Act as a connector across the department, ensuring information flows effectively and priorities remain aligned
  • Build strong relationships with Heads of Department and provide flexible, hands-on support to leadership groups where needed

Skills & Experience
  • Experience in consulting, finance (accounting qualification preferred but not essential), strategy, or equivalent business operations roles
  • Experience working closely with senior leaders in fast-paced environments
  • Exposure to finance/commercial topics (comfortable, not necessarily expert)
  • Experience supporting senior leaders in fast-paced environments, including managing priorities, inbox, and day-to-day executive cadence
  • Comfortable across both strategic and administrative tasks—able to move seamlessly from detailed execution (e.g. inbox, diary, materials) to higher-level problem solving
  • Exposure to finance/commercial topics (able to engage confidently, not necessarily an expert)

Skills
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation instincts
  • Analytical thinker—able to break down complex problems quickly
  • Comfortable “in the weeds” but able to zoom out to strategic context
  • Strong communication skills (clear, concise, structured)
  • High ownership and accountability
  • Pragmatic and low-ego
  • Adaptable
  • Comfortable being pushed and working at pace
  • Able to build trust quickly and challenge constructively
