Description
Internship Overview
TerraCycle is an environmentally friendly, highly publicized, fast-growth start-up company that creates consumer products from scrap materials. We seek an energetic artist with a passion for upcycling. Ideal creative interns are passionate, out of the box thinkers with a drive for exploring new ideas and dynamic collaboration. The Industrial Design team is seeking two (2) interns to collaborate on creative projects beginning in September.
Industrial Design Intern: Ideal interns are crafty, with a knack for seeing another persons’ trash as treasure. The Industrial Design intern will work on projects including gamified and engineered collection bins, upcycled and recycled products, upcycled art pieces, and DIY projects.
Artist Residency Intern: Art interns help the Industrial Design team develop concepts, art, and sculpture for some of the world’s largest brands, utilizing the companies’ own supply chain and consumer waste. The focus of this internship is on creating eco-minded pieces and experiences that help people understand that they too can eliminate the idea of waste.
Working directly with world-renowned artist EdE Sinkovics, you will assist in the creation of large-scale art pieces destined for high-profile upcoming exhibits and permanent displays. If you are exceptionally crafty, highly resourceful, and passionate about turning another person’s trash into world-class treasure, this role is for you. Experience with design and production tools a plus: woodshop, power tools, cutting tools, laser cutter, painting, and/or industrial sewing machine.
Internship Responsibilities

Support the creative process from ideation to production
Execute design concepts to fit the needs of the project and reflect company design standards

TerraCycle is Eliminating the Idea of Waste® by developing solutions to recycle the unrecyclable—items that aren’t typically curbside recyclable like cosmetics, candy wrappers, chewing gum, and even cigarette butts.
We work with environmentally-conscious startups and some of the world’s biggest brands to recycle their products into raw material, which is then sold to manufacturing companies. Those manufacturers then use the materials to make new products like outdoor furniture and decking, plastic shipping pallets, tubes for construction applications, playground surface covers, and more. We’ve even recycled ocean plastic into shampoo bottles and toothpaste tubes into playgrounds!
We’re continuously pioneering new and innovative recycling, reuse, and recycled content solutions for your trash. Join us in Eliminating the Idea of Waste® by visiting terracycle.com.
