JOB FUNCTIONS:
Constructs boxes and crates by hand using machinery and hand tools. Quality checks all shipments to ensure shipping specifications are met. Operates forklift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Constructs cartons and boxes by hand from unassembled stock, using had tools and machinery.
Measures parts to determine the correct size box or crate to be used for shipment.
Packs products to minimize waste and avoid shifting of products while in transit.
Inspects shipments to ensure shipping specifications are met (i.e. correct vendor on the label, correct quantity and packaged correctly).
Notifies the shipping group leader, shipping group or any other management associate of defects, shortages or any other problems with parts affecting shipments to customers.
Reviews order to ensure shipping specifications are met (i.e. correct vendor, method of shipment, number of items and packaged properly).
Operates forklift to load shipments on trucks.
Performs all packing functions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Other duties as assigned by management. Even though Shipper/Packager may be your main responsibility, Teak Isle will require cross training in other positions, including Packer, Sanding, Polishing, Assembly, Finisher Router, CNC Operator, etc. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice depending on the needs of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10 hours days with most of the time being on your feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
Must be able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
