Full job description

Why We Need You

SXD is seeking a proactive and highly detail-oriented Product Developer to bring zero waste products to life. You’ll work directly with team SXD and our global partners to create, refine, produce, and deliver SXD’s proprietary zero waste designs. You’ll also support the development of our patented AI platform, ensuring every detail advances both design integrity and technological innovation.

With you, SXD moves from breakthrough concepts to industry-defining standards.

What You'll Do

SXD Zero Waste Technical Design

  • Collaborate on zero waste design creation, proofing and updating deliverables to maintain consistency and accuracy.

  • Digitize patterns in CLO3D/Optitex, DXF and marker formats.

  • Digitize and productionalize patterns, ensuring all design annotations (e.g., notches, folds) are accurate across all sizes and styles.

  • Create tech packs from development through production.

  • Evaluate samples for correct construction and grading/tolerance and recommend solutions to improve.

  • Provide effective fit corrections, sketches, photos, and sample comments to clearly communicate required modifications to vendors.

  • Create design files for prints, embroidery, care labels, etc., ensuring accurate organization and production readiness.

  • Proof design files for quality data training, ensuring all materials are free of errors for SXD engineers before integration.

  • Test SXD AI (TM) weekly, report feedback, and coordinate testing with other designers.

SXD Zero Waste Product Development

  • Serve as technical liaison and project manager for SXD’s supplier partners, resolving production issues across projects.

  • Lead and support manufacturing handoff, including file conversion across systems (CLO3D, Gerber, Optitex, etc.) and technical troubleshooting.

  • Ship, track, and receive samples. Manage studio inventories.

  • Review, source, test, and select fabrics.

  • Travel as needed (~15-25%) to collaborate with suppliers and partners to develop quality products that can scale in production.

We Want to Talk to You If You

  • Have high self-confidence, low ego.

  • Thrive under pressure and increased accountability.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you may be supporting several projects at once, each with unique technical and manufacturing challenges.

  • Are relentless when it comes to getting it done. When roadblocks occur, you’ll find another path to make things work.

  • Are motivated by turning vision into reality—ideas can be great, but flawless execution is key. You will get the details right.

  • Are energized by traveling to our global partners and bringing zero waste designs to life.

  • Are open-minded, curious, and collaborative.

  • Have pattern-making and production management experience.

  • Have experience and expertise with digital design tools, particularly CLO3D, Optitex, Gerber, Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Have experience managing supplier relationships in both apparel and non-apparel sectors (preferred).

  • Have strong organizational skills with experiences managing multiple priorities, deadlines and projects.

  • Communicate effectively, succinctly, and clearly, with experience working with different partners, stakeholders, and time zones.

  • Are passionate about sustainability and zero waste design.

Why SXD?

  • You matter. We are a lean team, and we will look to you to shape our perspectives.

  • We know that we are changing the game in design. We have proven over 10x more impact in material saving, environmental benefits, and material cost saving than any other solution today.

  • You will work with the best of the best through our global team, from a world-renowned AI professor from Tokyo to Levi’s former head of technical design from Paris.

  • From turning the largest music record labels’ tour merchandise zero waste to creating the first zero waste car components, you will be making outsized impact daily with the most iconic global brands.
