Description
The Opportunity
SS Equipment is seeking a relationship-driven Agricultural Equipment Sales Representative based at our Quincy location. The assigned territory covers much of Grant County and extends west into Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley, a large and productive agricultural market with significant opportunity to develop new business.
This is a field-based role for someone who enjoys being on farms, learning how customers operate, and earning business through consistent follow-up and long-term relationships. Equipment sales experience is preferred, but we also welcome applicants with practical farming or agricultural-equipment backgrounds who are ready to learn the sales side of the business.
Why This Role Stands Out
- A large territory with real opportunity. Grant County and the Ellensburg-Kittitas area include diverse, active agricultural operations with substantial equipment needs and room to develop new business.
- Autonomy in the field. Plan customer visits, manage follow-up, and take ownership of developing the assigned territory.
What You'll Do
- Visit farms, current customers, and prospective customers throughout the territory.
- Maintain existing customer relationships while actively developing new business through field activity, referrals, leads, and disciplined follow-up.
- Learn each customer's operation, equipment cycle, production goals, and challenges to recommend practical equipment solutions.
- Sell new and pre-owned agricultural equipment and related solutions from the product lines represented by SS Equipment.
- Prepare and present quotes and coordinate trade evaluations, manufacturer programs, financing options, approvals, and transaction details with dealership resources.
- Arrange and conduct equipment demonstrations, safely operate machinery, and help customers evaluate equipment in real operating conditions.
- Transport equipment for demonstrations and deliveries using a company pickup and equipment trailer, including safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, activity, and follow-up information in the dealership's CRM system.
- Coordinate equipment delivery and startup with internal teams and follow through after the sale to support long-term customer relationships.
- Maintain current product and competitive knowledge and participate in manufacturer training, customer events, open houses, and other sales activities.
What SS Equipment Provides
- Company pickup and fuel card for business travel, plus a company cellphone and laptop.
- Product, manufacturer, dealership-system, and sales-process training with coaching from experienced sales leadership.
- Access to new and pre-owned inventory and the combined resources of six SS Equipment locations.
- Parts, service, financing, and administrative support from the first customer conversation through delivery and follow-up.
Benefits
- Within 30 days: Medical, dental, and vision insurance for $50 per month.
- Within 30 days: Life and disability insurance.
- First-year paid time off: 80 hours of vacation, 68 hours of sick leave, and eight paid holidays.
- After six months: 401(k) plan with a 4% company match.
- After six months: Generous employee discount.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Practical familiarity with agriculture, farming operations, or agricultural equipment.
- Ability to build trust, ask good questions, listen carefully, and communicate clearly with growers and internal teams.
- Self-motivation and willingness to prospect for new business rather than relying only on incoming leads or existing accounts.
- Strong work ethic, reliable follow-through, and the organization to manage a large territory and long sales cycle.
- Willingness and ability to learn product specifications, trade values, manufacturer programs, financing concepts, and dealership processes.
- Basic proficiency with email, web-based tools, and customer relationship management software.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Prior experience safely hitching, towing, backing, and maneuvering equipment trailers, along with comfort loading and unloading agricultural equipment. A CDL is not required. SS Equipment will provide training on equipment-specific loading and load-securement procedures.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, safely operate or learn to operate agricultural equipment, and work occasional extended or irregular hours when customer and seasonal needs require it.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Backgrounds
We welcome applicants from several paths, including:
- Agricultural or heavy-equipment sales.
- Farm ownership, farm management, or production agriculture.
- Agricultural equipment operation or maintenance.
- Ag-input, crop, irrigation, seed, feed, or related field sales.
- Dealership parts, service, precision, or other customer-facing roles.
- Experience and relationships within Grant County, Ellensburg, or the Kittitas Valley.
Employment Conditions
This safety-sensitive position requires regular driving, towing equipment trailers, and operating large agricultural equipment. Employment is contingent on an acceptable motor vehicle record and pre-employment drug screening as permitted by law.
