Join Shiloh House, a leader in youth behavioral health and trauma-informed care. We are hiring Mental Health Counselors to work directly with at-risk youth (ages 7–18) in a structured, team-based environment.

This is a hands-on role that requires reliability, accountability, and the ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations. You will play a direct role in maintaining safety, structure, and consistency while helping youth work through behavioral and emotional challenges.

Why Work at Shiloh House

  • Competitive Pay: In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $23.00-$25.75 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law.
  • Shift Differentials
  • 4 Day workweek
  • Career Growth: Strong internal promotion culture and career development opportunities
  • Paid Training & Mentorship: Learn from experienced staff and build real-world skills
  • Full Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life insurance + 403(b) with match
  • Time off: PTO, personal leave, and overtime opportunities
  • Education Support: 10% off CCU online programs
  • May be eligible for student loan forgiveness through the Public Service Federal Loan Forgiveness Program

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct supervision and structure for youth in a residential setting
  • Work closely with clinicians and educators to implement treatment and behavior plans
  • Maintain firm, consistent boundaries while supporting youth through challenges
  • Use verbal de-escalation techniques in high-stress situations
  • Conduct safety checks and monitoring (room checks, 15-minute bed checks)
  • Transport youth to school, appointments, and activities
  • Support daily operations including meal prep and light upkeep
  • Document activities and participate in team meetings and training
  • Work with youth experiencing trauma, aggression, and behavioral challenges

What We’re Looking For

  • Dependable, steady, and able to perform in a structured, fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment, situational awareness, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult or confrontational situations
  • Comfortable with hands-on work and direct interaction with youth
  • Experience in youth work, behavioral health, coaching, security, corrections, or similar roles is a plus

    • High school diploma + 2 years of human services experience
    • High school diploma + 30 college credits + 1 year of experience

  • Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening as a condition of employment, in accordance with Colorado Department of Human Services regulations for child care facilities. This screening includes state criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry searches, and abuse and neglect clearances. If the applicant has lived in any other state within the past five years, equivalent background and abuse/neglect checks from those states will also be conducted.
