Are you passionate about learning, innovation, and creativity? The Library is looking for enthusiastic and dependable student employees to support our campus community. Whether you're assisting with library circulation, our makerspace, or special projects, we have a variety of roles that will help you grow your skills in customer service, libraries, and technology! 

 

Positions Available: 

  • Circulation Student Assistant (Level I) – $11.50/hour – Currently Hiring
  • Circulation Lead Student Assistant (Level II) – $12.50/hour – Not Accepting Applications at This Time
  • Library Technology Student Specialist (Level II) – $12.50/hour – Not Accepting Applications
  • Library Intern (Level IV) – $14.50/hour – Not Accepting Applications

 

About the Library 

The Giovale Library supports Westminster University’s dedication to fostering student success and to creating a community of lifelong learners by providing access to innovative services and collections that encourage intellectual growth and exploration. The library is a dynamic environment where student employees play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly, ensuring materials are available, and fostering a student-centered learning atmosphere. 

 

Position Descriptions: 

 

Circulations Student Assistant (Level I)
 Assist patrons with library materials and technologies while providing customer service at the front desk.
 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Help patrons access and use our collections.
  • Maintain library collections and process new materials.
  • Cultivate a welcoming and organized environment.

 

Circulation Lead Student Assistant (Level II)
 Provide leadership at the circulation desk and train library assistants.
 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support and mentor circulation assistants.
  • Engage in problem solving and ensure smooth desk operations.
  • Contribute student perspectives to library initiatives.

 

 

Library Technology Student Specialist (Level II)
 Support patron engagement with library technologies.
  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with 3D printing and digital media equipment maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to library technology.
  • Curate the Library’s audiovisual collection.

 

Library Intern (Level IV)
 Work with librarians on a variety of special projects, from programming and outreach to research support and digital collections.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with library staff to develop projects related to your interests.
  • Receive mentorship and gain practical experience in a variety of library functions.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of library professions.

 

General Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled student in good academic standing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently.
  • An interest in libraries, information sciences, or creative technology is a plus!

 

Job Details: 

  • Schedule: 6–10 hours/week (hours vary depending on role).
  • Compensation: Based on Student Employee Level I, II, or IV pay scale.
  • Eligibility: Open to both work-study and non-work-study students.
  • Training: Comprehensive training is provided for all roles.
