This end-to-end approach ensures our designs can be built, maintained, and trusted to perform long after delivery.

At Rockford, you won’t just be part of projects – you’ll be part of delivering real machines that make an impact for our clients. We value excellence, accountability, and teamwork, and we provide opportunities for people to grow while contributing to challenging and meaningful work.

Position Summary

The Operations and Resource Planning Lead is responsible for ensuring work across the organization is planned, prioritized, and executed in alignment with available resources and operational capacity. This role provides enterprise-wide visibility of workload, schedules, and resource utilization, helping to maintain a balanced and achievable flow of work across Consulting, Engineered-to-Order, and Aftermarket operations.

Working closely with Engineering, Planning & Procurement, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Aftermarket teams, the Operations Lead facilitates alignment between priorities, schedules, and capacity requirements. The role identifies potential resource constraints, scheduling conflicts, and execution risks, supporting proactive decision-making and effective operational coordination. By promoting schedule integrity, resource accountability, and cross-functional coordination, this role helps ensure organizational commitments are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consolidated view of active and upcoming work across Consulting, Engineered-to-Order, and Aftermarket operations to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Evaluate workload demands against available engineering, planning, procurement, and manufacturing capacity, identifying potential constraints before they impact execution.
  • Coordinate work across Engineering, Planning & Procurement, Manufacturing, and Aftermarket teams to maintain a balanced, achievable workload and optimize resource utilization.
  • Establish, communicate, and reinforce short-term execution priorities, ensuring work is progressed in accordance with approved priorities and business objectives.
  • Resolve competing priorities and resource conflicts across departments, escalating issues when necessary to support timely decision-making.
  • Ensure project, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and aftermarket schedules are accurate, current, and reflective of actual execution conditions.
  • Promote schedule ownership and accountability across functional areas, ensuring plans remain realistic, coordinated, and aligned with project commitments.
  • Identify and proactively address conflicts between workload, capacity, priorities, and execution plans to minimize disruption and maintain operational effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership with forward-looking visibility into workload forecasts, resource requirements, capacity constraints, and execution risks.
  • Own the governance, structure, and integrity of the organization's scheduling and resource planning systems, ensuring consistent standards and practices are followed.
  • Maintain scheduling data accuracy and ensure the scheduling system serves as the organization's single source of truth for workload and resource planning.
  • Review and validate resource allocation decisions to prevent overcommitment and support effective enterprise-wide planning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, capacity management, and operational coordination.
  • Maintain document control systems and associated standards, including SharePoint and regulatory document libraries.
  • Support time-entry reviews and reporting activities to ensure alignment between planned work, actual effort, and scheduling data.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, a related discipline or relevant experience.
  • Candidates holding a PMP, CAPM, or other relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience in operations planning, production scheduling, project controls, resource planning, capacity management, or a similar coordination role.
  • Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, engineered-to-order, heavy industrial, or project-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating work across multiple departments and balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience with scheduling, workload forecasting, resource allocation, and performance reporting.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, ERP, project management, and Microsoft Office software platforms.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to complete and pass a criminal record check

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Company matching pension program.
  • On-site parking.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • A supportive team environment focused on innovation and collaboration.
  • Career development through mentorship, challenging assignments, and industry recognition.
