Responsible for testing wires and cables, maintaining equipment calibration, and implementing the Quality Management System for ISO and Nuclear programs. The role involves leading associates in quality reporting, investigating customer returns, and coordinating corrective actions.
Requires a minimum of 5 years of quality experience in manufacturing, specifically within the wire and cable industry. An associate degree is required, while a bachelor's degree is preferred.
Summary: Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for the testing of wires and cables, maintains the calibration of testing equipment, compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality of products, assists Quality Engineers and Quality Manager, and implements and maintains the Quality Management System in support of the ISO and Nuclear programs.
Lead associates to effectively perform required testing and reporting of quality data. Delivers accurate and timely test results. Investigate, evaluate, and report returned product from customers. Lead / coordinate corrective actions. Interact with customer visits (offsite or onsite) as needed. Interact with suppliers as needed for audits, certifications and purchased material concerns. Confers with Engineering to interpret Engineering and Industry Specifications to ensure products get tested accordingly. Assist with compliant analysis and corrective actions. Support Continuous Improvement projects and 6S events. Support Layered Process Audits. Interact with external customers, inspectors and auditors as needed. Assist in updating Claim Sheets and Dashboards. Serve as internal auditor for Willimantic and other Facilities in North America as needed. Interact with and assist the Quality lab as needed. Perform related duties as directed by Quality Manager.
Experience with Wire and Cable, Fiber Optic, Nuclear, Flame testing, Electrical and Mechanical testing. Experience with data analysis and database computer programs. Ability to use various laboratory testing tools. Sound technical skills, analytical ability, and good judgment. Must be able to communicate effectively both oral and written with other associates, technicians, engineers, and internal and external customers. Must have good attention to details. Must be able to lead projects. High energy; demonstrates urgency and works well in a fast pace environment. Ability to work well with a team and be a self-starter. Capable of multi-tasking.
1. Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
2. Experience in Quality systems auditing
3. Experience in Wire and Cable Industry
Associate degree minimum, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
