Summary/Objective

The Senior Manager of Multimedia & Social Strategy leads PayrollOrg’s multimedia/video production, public relations, media relations, and social media efforts to strengthen brand visibility and audience engagement. This role oversees strategic storytelling, multimedia/video production, media outreach, and integrated social media campaigns that support organizational priorities, educational programs, membership growth, conferences, and awareness initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a creative and strategic communicator with strong project management skills and experience in multimedia/video production, social media strategy, public relations, and digital engagement in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

  • Leads multimedia, video, social media, and digital engagement initiatives that support brand awareness, membership growth, conferences, campaigns, and educational programs.
  • Oversees multimedia and video projects from concept through final delivery, including content review, production coordination, and vendor management.
  • Oversees social media strategies, content calendars, digital campaigns, and audience engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Creates and manages press releases, media outreach, talking points, and communication materials to strengthen organizational visibility and reputation.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with media outlets, coordinates interviews, and responds to media inquiries.
  • Ensures all multimedia, social media, and communication content aligns with organizational branding, messaging, and strategic priorities.
  • Reviews performance metrics for media relations, and social media initiatives and adjusts strategies to improve engagement and impact.
  • Collaborates with internal departments, external vendors, agencies, and production partners to support organizational initiatives and campaigns.
  • Manages project timelines, workflows, budgets, and deliverables to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to assigned staff and supports hiring, onboarding, and professional development activities.
  • Stays current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in multimedia/video, public relations, and digital engagement.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Strong knowledge of multimedia/video production, video strategy, social media management, public relations, and media relations 
  • Experience developing integrated communication and digital engagement strategies 
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, audience engagement, and digital storytelling 
  • Experience managing video production workflows and multimedia projects 
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to develop messaging for interviews, presentations, reports, campaigns, and executive communications 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills 
  • Ability to analyze engagement metrics and apply insights to improve performance 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant multimedia, social media, and production tools 
  • Knowledge of web-editing software and digital content platforms preferred 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Multimedia Production, Digital Media, or related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in multimedia production, social media strategy, public relations, or media relations 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing staff or leading projects 
  • Experience with video and web-based production 
  • Experience managing social media platforms for organizations or brands 
  • Experience developing and executing integrated communication campaigns 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Video production supervision experience 
  • Experience managing multimedia vendors and external production partners 
  • HubSpot social media or inbound marketing certifications a plus 

Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct leadership of assigned staff, establishing priorities, setting performance expectations, and ensuring accountability for results. Actively manages employee performance through regular feedback, evaluations, coaching, and development planning. Leads hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes, including corrective action when necessary.

Internal and External Interfaces

Internal: Key stakeholders of PAYO with regular interaction with Art, Chapter Relations, Editorial, Education, Executive Office, Government Relations, Marketing, Meeting Planning, Membership Publications, Technology, and Vendor Relations team members.

External: Media outlets, production companies, audiovisual representatives, agencies, vendors, sponsors, freelancers, speakers, and strategic partners.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Requires prolonged sitting, walking, and standing depending on the job tasks with bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, crouching, and stretching, and lifting to 20 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other technology equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Prolonged exposure to computer monitors.
