GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Saw Shop Hand is responsible for safely cutting raw materials, offloading and storing incoming materials, and staging material for production operations. This position supports manufacturing operations by operating saw equipment, handling raw materials, and ensuring materials are properly stored, identified, and delivered to production areas as needed.

This role works in an oilfield manufacturing environment specializing in gas separators and sand separators for downhole applications.

 

The Saw Hand receives daily work assignments, production priorities, and operational direction from the Saw Lead while reporting directly to the Inventory Control and Purchasing Manager.

 

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:

Saw Operations

  1. Operate industrial saw equipment to cut raw materials according to work orders, cut lists, and specifications.
  2. Verify material dimensions and identification before cutting.
  3. Ensure cut materials meet required specifications and quality standards.
  4. Maintain an organized work area around saw equipment.
  5. Perform routine saw maintenance and report equipment issues to supervision.
  6. Follow all shop safety procedures and safe equipment operating practices.

 

Material Receiving & Handling

  1. Assist with offloading inbound raw materials, including pipe, tubing, bar stock, and related materials.
  2. Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as authorized.
  3. Verify received materials against receiving documentation.
  4. Properly identify and label materials as required.
  5. Transport materials from receiving areas to designated storage locations.

Material Storage & Staging

  1. Organize and store raw materials in designated racks and storage areas.
  2. Maintain orderly storage locations to ensure material accessibility and efficient retrieval.
  3. Move materials from storage areas to saw operations and production departments as directed.
  4. Stage cut materials and pallets for machining and production operations.
  5. Maintain material traceability and identification throughout handling and storage processes.

 

Production Support

  1. Process assigned work orders and cut lists in a timely manner.
  2. Deliver cut materials to designated production areas as required.
  3. Support production needs by maintaining material flow and completing assigned tasks efficiently.
  4. Communicate material shortages, damaged materials, equipment concerns, or workflow issues to supervision.
  5. Assist with inventory counts and material audits as requested.

 

Safety & Compliance

  1. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times.
  2. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing assigned duties.
  3. Comply with all OSI policies, procedures, standards, and expectations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  4. Participate in required safety meetings, training sessions, and compliance programs.
  5. Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, accidents, injuries, damaged equipment, or safety concerns to supervision.
  6. Conduct work in a safe manner to protect personnel, equipment, facilities, and materials.
  7. Maintain clean and organized work areas, storage locations, and yard areas in accordance with company standards.
  8. Properly inspect material handling equipment before use and report any operational or safety concerns.

REQURIED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Previous manufacturing, warehouse, material handling, or industrial experience preferred.
  3. Experience operating industrial saws, forklifts, or overhead cranes is a plus.
  4. Ability to read and follow work orders and material specifications.
  5. Basic math and measurement skills.
  6. Dependable work ethic and strong attention to detail.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to safely operate saw equipment and material handling equipment.
  2. Basic understanding of manufacturing and material handling processes.
  3. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  6. Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity standards.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to work in a manufacturing facility and outdoor yard environment.
  2. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  4. Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment.
  5. Ability to work around moving machinery, raw materials, and changing environmental conditions.
