Lead the development and execution of a 3-year sourcing strategy for footwear textile materials to optimize cost, quality, and sustainability. Manage a team of sourcing professionals while partnering with cross-functional supply chain and product creation teams to maintain a resilient supplier base.
Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management and over 8 years of experience in materials sourcing, including at least 3 years of people leadership. Must possess deep expertise in the footwear industry and textile materials landscape.
Full job description
The Footwear Materials Sourcing team sits within the Footwear Product Supply Chain organization. The Footwear Materials Sourcing team shapes the source base of materials suppliers that manufacture thousands of materials within Nike’s Footwear supply chain. The team is comprised of strategic thinkers who advance our mission of driving outsized opportunities across materials lead-time, cost, quality, and sustainability while integrating strategy and mitigating risk of source base disruption.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a strategic and inspiring leader to lead a team responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for footwear materials. This role requires a leader who can set a clear vision, build organizational capability, and empower teams to deliver against complex business priorities across source base strategy, cost, resiliency, risk, and sustainability. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, navigating ambiguity, and driving alignment across diverse cross-functional stakeholders. They can think strategically while ensuring strong operational execution, communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership, and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that enables teams to thrive.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As part of the Footwear Materials Sourcing team, you will:
Develop and maintain a healthy, competitive, and resilient material source base for textile by identifying and scouting new suppliers, assessing capabilities, approving new vendors and technologies, and driving supplier divestment decisions when appropriate. Ensure the source base evolves to meet Nike’s long-term business, innovation, and growth needs.
Create and lead the execution of a 3-year materials sourcing strategy for textile that balances product excellence, profitability, speed, resiliency, risk management, and sustainability. Translate enterprise priorities into actionable sourcing plans and measurable business outcomes.
Lead and guide the team on developing and executing sourcing initiatives, including country-level localization priorities, multi-sourced strategy, and regional sourcing.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3–4 sourcing professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning while providing timely feedback, career development opportunities, and strategic guidance to help individuals and the team achieve their full potential.
Partner closely with Product Creation, Material Development, Costing, Manufacturing, and other supply chain functions to shape sourcing direction, align priorities, and drive integrated decision-making across the organization. Serve as a strategic thought partner and advocate for sourcing within key business discussions.
Maintain and strengthen partnerships with strategic textile materials suppliers to support long-term business objectives.
Attend material trade shows and industry events to stay informed on emerging material trends, new technologies, and innovative supplier capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
8+ years of experience in Materials, with sourcing experience preferred.
3+ years of people leadership experience with a proven track record of building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional and enterprise-level initiatives that drive strategic business outcomes.
Strong material expertise in the Footwear industry required, and great knowledge of textile materials suppliers’ landscape and technical manufacturing expertise preferred.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, simplify complex challenges, and drive solutions through influence and collaboration.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse perspectives and effectively communicate with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
Strong growth mindset.
Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills.
Cultural awareness and a champion for diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Ability to travel 5%.
