The Medical Director ensures all clinical needs are met within the correctional facility by providing direct and indirect medical care. Responsibilities include conducting rounds, managing chronic care, responding to emergencies, and supervising medical staff to ensure compliance with state and federal mandates.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be board-certified in Family or Internal Medicine with a valid Alabama physician license. Additional requirements include a current DEA registration, BLS CPR certification, and the ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

As a Correctional Medical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring all clinical needs are being met within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
The Medical Director is responsible for providing direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological and emotional needs of the patients and ensuring quality care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population.
