The Trail Planner provides technical expertise and support for active transportation projects during the approval and construction phases. This role involves coordinating with local governments, state agencies, and non-profit groups while conducting field inspections for compliance.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field with at least two years of experience in trail design. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of IMBA, AASHTO, and NACTO standards.

Job Summary:
The Trail Planner works with the planning department and provides support for active transportation of all types as well as technical expertise during the approval and construction process of trails. This position works with advisory committees and non-profit groups.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
Provides support to the Transportation Division in the Planning Department.
Works with local governments, state agencies, the public and others.
Coordinates with internal and external transportation partners.
Participates in advisory committees and nonprofit groups.
Conducts in the field inspections of projects both prior to and after construction to verify compliance.
Other duties as assigned.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires sitting for long periods of time and performing computer-related work. The individual must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. Occasionally drives a motor vehicle within the MAG counties.
