Full job description

About Limbic

Limbic is the leading clinical AI company for mental healthcare and the largest deployment of patient-facing mental health AI in the world. Our technology has supported over half a million patients across the UK and US, helping health systems deliver higher-quality, more accessible, and more efficient care.

We regulated the first AI diagnostic model for adult mental health as a Class IIa medical device. We’ve published in top-tier journals, won major awards, and advise governments and regulators globally on AI safety, medical devices, and the future of clinical agentic systems.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced peer support specialist to join our team as an independent contractor (1099). You will use your lived experience to motivate patients and build trust within an AI-led therapy program. This role requires being a steady, human presence for others, especially when navigating technological challenges. This fully virtual position offers the flexibility to design a schedule that works for you.

We are building a team to reach patients who have been underserved by traditional systems, including older adults, rural residents, and people from marginalized backgrounds whose identities deserve genuine understanding.

  • Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

  • Location: Fully remote / Telehealth

  • Schedule: Flexible within clinic hours (Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00pm EST)

  • Compensation: Fee-for-service

    • Each session, inclusive of documentation and required administration, is paid at $10 (estimated session length 20-30 minutes).

    • Training on Limbic systems, essential training to ensure patient safety, and coordination meetings are paid at $20/hour, prorated.

    • Paid no-show fee, reflecting the documentation, patient outreach, and scheduling work required regardless of session attendance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Individual Support: Deliver peer sessions that normalize challenges, instill hope, and reinforce therapeutic progress.

  • Patient-Centered Motivation: Meet individuals where they are, helping those who feel hesitant find their own internal reasons for engagement.

  • Group Sessions: Lead virtual groups focused on wellbeing tools and psycho-education.

  • Escalation: Follow crisis protocols to assess safety and initiate clinical handoffs to psychotherapists when necessary.

Note: Maintaining boundaries and scope of practice is vital. You will never be asked to perform clinical duties or therapy that requires a professional license.

Who We Need

  • Credentialing: A current and unrestricted peer support certification (e.g., CPS-MH or state equivalent). Certified Older Adult Peer Specialist (COAPS) or Digital Certified Older Adult Peer Support Specialists (D-COAPS) a plus.

  • Lived Experience: Personal history of anxiety and/or depression that you can leverage to instill hope. Health-tech experience is a plus.

  • Inclusivity: An authentic commitment to meeting every patient with curiosity and respect, ensuring those from marginalized backgrounds feel genuinely seen.

  • Older Adults: A strong interest in supporting adults 65+ with patience and awareness of their unique medical and generational needs.

  • Facilitation: Experience leading peer or educational groups is a plus.

  • Tech Aptitude: Comfort with digital platforms and a methodical approach to troubleshooting hiccups with patience.

  • Candidates must have regular access to a private computer/laptop and high-speed internet access while conducting sessions

  • Candidates must have a private space to make calls to patients where they will not be overheard.

  • Experience in mental health coaching a plus.

What We Offer

  • Paid training, meetings, and no show fees.

  • Flexible, remote schedule within clinic hours (Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00pm EST)

  • The chance to collaborate with experts and shape the future of AI in mental healthcare.

  • A supportive clinical environment with direct access to supervision during business hours.

  • Optional (unpaid) case-consultation meetings to meet with the broader team and supervisors.

  • Optional (unpaid) training provided by clinical staff to enhance your skills as a PSS.

  • A culture that values autonomy, integrity, and your unique lived experience.

Our Hiring Process

We use a structured hiring process to remain efficient and fair. This includes application screening, a take home project (1-1.5 hours), a live clinical interview to evaluate judgment and inclusivity, and a reference check. You will need to pass a background check for this role.

Due to high application volume, we may close this posting at any time and encourage you to apply early if interested.
