This role is part of a high-impact program focused on delivering secure, scalable cloud solutions that enable operational agility and resilience across the USCG enterprise. As a Sr Linux Systems Administrator, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing mission-critical systems across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows platforms in AWS and Azure environments. This role is essential to maintain operational integrity, security compliance, and performance across hybrid cloud deployments. You’ll work closely with cloud engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and program leadership to drive continuous improvement and deliver value to the mission.
Key Tasks
Administer, patch, and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) / CentOS / Ubuntu servers supporting mission-critical applications.
Install, configure, and maintain UiPath Orchestrator and supporting services on Linux hosts, including integration with load balancers, reverse proxies, and databases (PostgreSQL/MSSQL).
Manage system performance, capacity planning, and troubleshooting for automation infrastructure.
Set up virtual machines, storage, networks, and other cloud services on platforms in AWS and Azure.
Use tools to track system health, uptime, and resource usage, ensuring optimal performance.
Implement access controls, encryption, and security policies to protect data and meet regulatory requirements.
Diagnosing and resolving issues related to cloud services, connectivity, or performance.
Write scripts (e.g., in Bash, PowerShell, or Python) to automate repetitive tasks like backups, updates, and deployments.
Automate provisioning, configuration management, and patching using Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with STIGs, RMF, or applicable compliance frameworks.
Support high-availability, clustering, and disaster recovery configurations.
Collaborate with RPA developers, DevOps, and network teams to ensure seamless automation pipeline operations.
Manage user access, certificates, and secure service accounts.
Support cross-functional coordination across engineering, cybersecurity, and program management teams.
Promote continuous improvement through feedback loops and process refinement.
Ensure alignment with USCG mission priorities and Leidos delivery standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business).
12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum 5+ year of Administration experience with cloud-based applications (MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS)
Experience with UiPath is a strong need.
Strong hands-on experience with RHEL and Windows Server environments.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture and services.
Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Familiarity with security hardening standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, CIS benchmarks).
Experience working with UiPath systems is a big plus.
Experience managing systems in AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
