Position Summary
As a Machine Operator, you will perform a variety of complex but repetitive mechanical assembly including operating common machines and equipment such as an automatic miter saw, chop saws, manual miter saw, grinders, drill presses, polishing machines, scissors, and knives. Produces production parts to required tolerances and quantities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up jobs according to specifications of work order.
- Follows directions and produces required quantity of parts.
- Safely operates screw guns, impact wrenches, drill presses, punch presses, polishing machines, automatic and manual miter saws, chop saws, and an assortment of small to medium power/hand tools to carry out a particular phase of the production cycle.
- Produces parts within required tolerances. Works safely.
- Takes care of routine machine maintenance and keeps work area in neat condition.
- Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
- Ensures department success through on-time delivery of parts, overall quality and customer satisfaction.
- Alerts Supervisor of any critical issues.
- Participates in the development of standards of excellence and check points of work and work processes.
- Follows company policies regarding safety
- Special projects or duties as assigned by management or required due to business needs.
Travel Requirement
No travel: This role is primarily based on-site in the manufacturing warehouse production facility.
Required Skills
- Must have knowledge of the basic use of small power tools and hand tools.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to learn precision assembly training.
- Attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Must understand work instructions and interpret and communicate drawings and bill of materials.
- Able to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Learn and understand materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and brass
- Possesses knowledge of tubing diameter by sight (i.e. 1 ½ in and 2 in).
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Education & Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 2 – 4 years cutting experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or experience gained through employment at Lavi Industries is helpful
- Able to define problems, collects data, establish acts and draw valid conclusions.
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule forms.
- Good leadership skills – i.e. makes decisions based on established company standards, assembly practices and quality requirements.
- Bilingual in English / Spanish
Work Environment
While performing the job duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.
Steel-toed shoes are required.
