About the Role:
The Bander plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that products are securely and efficiently bundled for storage, transport, and distribution. This position is required to learn all aspects of the packaging line which includes downing finished product on the conveyer line, operating the banding head, operating a jib crane and learning the computer system associated with the packaging line. The hours for this position, will be from 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday – Thursday, with overtime worked on Friday when needed. This is an entry level position and the opportunity for advancement will be available for those that show good work ethic and the ability to master the tasks of this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to be trained in all parts of the packaging process
- Must be able to read and fill out all documents related to job after training
- Must be able to do basic math which includes fractions and decimals
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and stoop/bend repeatedly throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must have strong attention to detail, commitment to quality standards, and basic computer knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated banding equipment and conveyor systems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety regulations and best practices.
- Basic computer skills for logging production data.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings or weekends if required.
- Certification in industrial machine operation or related training.
Responsibilities:
- Operate banding machines to securely strap products according to company specifications and safety guidelines.
- Inspect products prior to banding to ensure they meet quality standards and are suitable for bundling.
- Adjust machine settings and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to maintain consistent banding quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to comply with safety and operational protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate product flow and meet daily production goals.
- Document production data and report any discrepancies or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Skills:
The Bander utilizes mechanical skills daily to operate and adjust banding machinery, ensuring products are securely packaged. Attention to detail is critical for inspecting products and verifying that banding meets quality and safety standards. Communication skills are important for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly to supervisors. Problem-solving abilities help in troubleshooting minor equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime. Additionally, organizational skills support maintaining a clean and efficient workspace, contributing to overall production effectiveness.
