Requires a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, preferably with endorsements in Language Arts, English, or ESL. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with adult students and proficiency in educational technology.

The Lansing School District Adult Education (AE) program plays a vital community role in offering classes in English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Diploma (HSD), High School Equivalency (HSE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE) and Career Pathways instruction to adult learners.
To further this mission, the district is hiring an Adult Education ESL Teacher to provide a holistic and supportive classroom experience for adult learners. Focused on literacy, instruction should include issues relevant to English within the community and workplace. The teacher will work to establish a safe and nurturing learning environment for students where background knowledge, language and culture is valued, and time is given to orient adult learners to a new culture, school, and community.
