Responsibilities

The Professional Practice Lead provides clinical leadership and oversight to ensure discipline-specific standards and regulatory requirements are met within pediatric care. About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a Professional Practice Lead in each of the following disciplines:

  • 1.0 FTE Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • 1.0 FTE Occupational Therapist (OT) 
  • 1.0 FTE Physiotherapist (PT) 
  • 1.0 FTE Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) 

 

The Professional Practice Lead is a discipline-specific clinical resource, mentor, and role model responsible for maintaining and strengthening standards of practice, advocating for improvements and opportunities, supporting professional growth and program development, ensuring alignment with applicable legislation, regulatory standards, and best practice within rehabilitative pediatric care settings. 

 

This role requires a strong understanding and knowledge of discipline-specific standards, legislation, ethical practices, pediatric care, and evidence-informed approaches. We are looking for an individual who has sound clinical judgment, problem-solving, and understanding of risk-benefit analysis, and strong skills when navigating complex, evolving contexts. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure discipline-specific practice standards, licensing requirements, and KidsAbility service standards are met 
  • Lead and enhance discipline-specific service delivery through evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and innovation initiatives 
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support complex cases, interdisciplinary collaboration, and integrated care planning 
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, recruitment support, and facilitating ongoing professional learning and competency growth 
  •  Monitor and improve service quality, compliance, and operational effectiveness, including documentation, workloads, and risk management 
  • Build strong partnerships across teams and with external stakeholders to support coordinated, client-centered care 
  • Promote equitable, responsive services that meet the diverse needs of children and families

 

What You Bring: 

To qualify, applicants must have a Masters’ degree in a relevant clinical discipline and registration in good standing with the applicable professional college: 

  • Speech-Language Pathologist registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Occupational Therapist registered with the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario (COTO)
  • Physiotherapist registered with the College of Physiotherapist of Ontario (CPO)
  • Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO)


Along with 3–5 years of clinical experience; pediatric rehabilitation experience is an asset.

 

Applicants should have the following skill and ability:

  • Strong knowledge of discipline-specific standards, legislation, ethical practices, pediatric care, and evidence-informed approaches
  • Sound clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex and/or evolving contexts
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging educational content, support effective mentorship, and identify appropriate learning needs
  • Demonstrated ability to accept, navigate, and adapt through change, positively influencing and leading others to do the same.
  • Confidence in navigating challenging situations, effectively problem-solving to make and influence decisions using sound judgment to draw valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a changing environment, demonstrating strong and effective communication, active-listening, and interpersonal skills while fostering positive professional relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • High degree of discretion through demonstrated ability to adhere to confidentiality standards and show superior emotional intelligence and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities, meet strict deadlines and have excellent follow-up.
  • Adept technical proficiency with Microsoft Suite of applications
  • Knowledge of AlayaCare or other electronic charting software
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with public liability/property damage coverage as travel may be required
