The Nurse Practitioner manages Chronic Kidney Disease patients through clinic follow-ups and hospital rounding. They collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans and provide leadership and mentorship to clinical staff.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree from an accredited APRN school and an active Nevada Nurse Practitioner license. CPR/BLS certification is required, and experience in nephrology or dialysis is preferred.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays an active role in promoting quality patient care and overall practice success. This position works closely with Physicians, ancillary staff members and Management to improve patient care and outcomes. The NP establishes and maintains professional community relationships with outside clinics/hospitals and physicians. In addition, the NP works with management to set and achieve goals for productivity and performance and provides leadership or mentor support for clinical staff.

Collaborate with Physician Clinic Director and Supervising Physician regularly for feedback regarding individual cases, treatment plans, and overall practice philosophy and goals
Provide clinical support as necessary including all aspects of direct patient care
Remain up to date with current recommendations regarding CKD disease management from RPA, ASN, and NKF
Regularly review protocols and discuss recommendations for revisions and/or improvements based on national updates, best demonstrated practice and hands-on experience
Actively participate in CKD patient educational programs including development, revision, and improvement of educational content and delivery
See patients per schedule for dialysis and/or hospital continuation of care
Collaborate with Physician Clinic Director and Supervising Physician regularly for feedback regarding individual cases, treatment plans, and overall practice philosophy and goals
Works closely with dialysis unit and/or hospital staff to ensure appropriate and adequate communication regarding plan of care
May be required to be present at multiple locations within a single work day
Play an active role in promoting quality patient care and overall practice success
Work closely with Physicians, Ancillary Staff Members, and Management to improve patient care and outcomes
Establish and maintain professional community relationships with outside clinics/hospitals and physicians/physician offices as necessary
Work with management to set and achieve goals for productivity and performance
Provide leadership/mentor support for clinical staff as needed
Demonstrate professionalism at all times, promoting a friendly work environment and providing excellent customer service

Master's degree from an accredited APRN Nursing School;
Active, unrestricted State of Nevada Nurse Practitioner license;
Nephrology experience as an APN, RN or dialysis tech preferred, but not required;
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
Must possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills and a professional demeanor when responding to patients and staff;
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
Experience with EMR and excellent computer skills;
Bilingual a plus.

Kidney Specialists of Southern Nevada (KSOSN) was established in Las Vegas by Allen Busby, MD, in 1976. Over the past 50 years, the practice has grown to meet the needs of the community we serve and now includes 40 doctors, 22 APs, and nearly 100 support staff in seven offices across greater Las Vegas, Henderson, and Pahrump, a chronic kidney disease support program, and a vascular access center. KSOSN offers the region’s most comprehensive kidney care services and the only integrated Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) support program. We have assembled an entire team of caregivers–physicians, nurses, dieticians, medical assistants and patient care coordinators–to both treat and educate patients on how best to manage their kidney disease. Our approach provides our patients with the best resources for slowing the progression of kidney disease and helping improve their quality of life. Our integrated approach incorporates every aspect of nephrology with intensive patient education and support, close collaboration with dialysis centers offering a range of in-center and at-home services, a state-of-the-art vascular access center, and transplant nephrologists who are part of the region’s transplant team. We are a practice that stays on the leading edge of medical care. We have memberships in both national and international nephrology and medical associations. All KSOSN offices are equipped with a state of the art charting system and paperless medical records to provide more efficient patient care and more accurate record keeping. Our nephrologists mentor medical students and resident physicians at area medical schools. Kidney Specialists of Southern Nevada is on academic faculty for nephrology at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, University of Nevada School of Medicine, Las Vegas, Valley Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas and Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Las Vegas.
