The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of licensed clinical staff to meet physiological and emotional needs. They also facilitate telehealth encounters and maintain a safe, efficient patient care environment.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and patient transfers are required.
Summary
With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. May collaborate with all clinical departments (a/k/a/telehealth) and designated staff at the patient's site for the purpose of facilitating and assisting with telehealth encounters between patients and providers.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
