We started back in 2018 when our founders, Divanshu and Samyak, both fresh out of IIT Madras, chose to skip placements and instead build something that mattered. They envisioned classrooms where students weren't just passive listeners, but active participants—teaching, mentoring, leading, and growing together.

Today, that vision is alive and growing, and we are working with government schools in six Indian states. Our core program, Peer Teaching, trains senior students to mentor their juniors in foundational skills like reading and math. But it's about more than academics—it's about building confidence, communication, problem-solving, and agency. Because we believe agency is the key to breaking cycles of inequality and helping young people truly own their futures. Over the next 5 years we look forward to creating impact for 10 million children across the length and breadth of India!

About the role
We're looking for a Software Engineering Intern to work closely with a senior engineer on improving and modernizing an existing web application. This internship is ideal for someone who enjoys product-minded engineering, cleaning up systems, and delivering improvements that make the app faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain.

Key Responsibilities

1. Frontend Development

• Design and develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces using React

• Translate UI/UX designs into high-quality, scalable code

• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize applications for performance

2. Backend Development

• Develop robust server-side logic using Python (e.g., Django, Flask, or FastAPI)

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and services

• Ensure application security, scalability, and reliability

3. Database Management

• Design, implement, and manage databases (SQL/NoSQL)

• Optimize database queries and ensure data integrity

• Handle data migrations and performance tuning

4. Full Software Development Lifecycle

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand requirements

• Participate in system design, architecture, and technical decision-making

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

• Develop and execute automated tests to ensure code quality

• Manage deployment pipelines and release processes on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)

5. Version Control & Collaboration

• Use Git effectively for version control, branching, and code reviews

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and QA engineers

6. Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting

• Analyze and resolve complex performance bottlenecks across the stack

• Debug and fix issues in production and development environments

• Continuously improve application performance and scalability

Qualifications (Good to have)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in full-stack development

• Strong proficiency in Python and modern frontend frameworks, especially React

• Solid understanding of backend architecture and API design

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases

• Expertise in Git and version control best practices

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and deployment workflows

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and manage the complete development lifecycle

Location: Bangalore / Hybrid
Salary : 20k -25k
Contract Period - 6 months
