Full job description
Turn risk information into insight, influence and better decisions
At Insignia Financial, risk isn’t just about managing what could go wrong, it’s about understanding what the information is telling us and helping leaders make better decisions.
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Risk Governance & Reporting to join our 1st Line Risk & Resilience team. This is not a hands-on data extraction or report-running role. Instead, you’ll bring your strong understanding of risk, the business and the broader organisational context to interpret reporting, connect the dots and turn information into a clear and meaningful story for senior leaders.
You’ll oversee the delivery of high-quality risk reporting, ensuring the right information is available at the right time, while providing the commentary, context and insights that help leaders understand what is happening, why it matters and where attention may be required.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in strengthening the 1st Line risk landscape, with a strong focus on insight, storytelling, governance and oversight, including:
Lead the development and uplift of risk reporting and insights across operational risk and resilience, using available data and reporting to identify trends, themes, emerging risks and areas requiring attention.
Turn data and reporting into a compelling risk story, providing context, commentary and insights that explain what is happening across the business, why it matters and what leaders should consider.
Use your business and organisational knowledge to challenge, interpret and connect information across risk profiles, incidents, issues, controls, obligations and critical operations.
Oversee the timely delivery of 1st Line risk reporting, working closely with team members responsible for data, reporting and inputs to ensure reports are accurate, complete, insightful and delivered on time.
Provide direction, coaching and quality oversight to team members, ensuring reporting outputs are consistent and meet the expectations of 1st Line Risk Leaders, governance forums, committees and Boards.
Prepare and deliver high-quality risk and compliance insights, including senior-level commentary and Board-ready papers, translating complex information into clear messages and actions.
Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and improve reporting processes, allowing the team to spend less time producing reports and more time generating meaningful insight.
Act as the 1st Line Risk & Compliance lead for the Atlas risk and compliance platform, particularly in relation to reporting functionality, enhancements and how the tool can better support risk insights.
Develop and oversee risk team calendars and plans, ensuring key governance deliverables, risk reviews, control testing and reporting commitments are coordinated and delivered effectively.
Champion continuous improvement, reviewing processes, tools and templates to improve efficiency, consistency and the quality of risk information.
Provide risk expertise to strategic initiatives, projects, regulatory change and other transformation activity, including supporting risk assessments.
Support internal and external reviews, assurance activities and audits where matters extend across multiple business areas.
Contribute to and, where required, chair risk forums, working groups and committees, including overseeing secretariat commitments for forums such as SERF and ORGF.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who can look beyond the numbers. You’ll be comfortable working with reporting and data, but your real strength will be understanding what the information means in the context of the business and turning it into a clear story for decision-makers.
You’ll ideally bring:
A tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Law or a related discipline.
7+ years’ experience in risk and/or compliance, ideally within financial services.
Strong experience interpreting risk reporting, data and insights, with the ability to identify trends, themes and emerging issues rather than simply produce reports.
Strong understanding of risk and compliance management concepts, frameworks and standards.
Demonstrated ability to connect the dots across complex business environments and provide meaningful risk commentary and insights.
Strong business acumen and organisational awareness, with the confidence to understand the context behind the data and challenge where appropriate.
Experience overseeing or coordinating reporting deliverables and guiding team members to deliver accurate, timely and high-quality outputs.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn complex information into clear, concise and compelling Board and senior executive-level narratives.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and risk professionals.
A continuous improvement mindset, with experience identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and improve ways of working.
Strong problem-solving skills, commercial acumen and the ability to operate effectively in a large, complex and constantly evolving environment.
Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in Australia, and at a minimum be required to undertake police and basic credit checks as a condition of employment.
Please note that applications from agencies will not be considered at this time.
We acknowledge and celebrate the richness that individual differences bring to our team. If you need assistance or an adjustment during the application process, please reach out and let us know.
