What we’re looking for
A skilled financial communications professional with proficient team and client management skills and a sophisticated understanding of the asset and wealth management markets. The Director supervises accounts and account teams, articulates and drives execution of media relations and thought leadership programs, and serves as a trusted counselor to clients and senior executives on strategic communications matters.
This role is well suited to someone currently at a leading financial PR firm, or in-house at an investment or wealth management firm, who is looking for the opportunity to work with premier clients, help shape strategy, and make a meaningful impact. In addition to managing junior colleagues, the Director is expected to lead by example and play a key role in expanding relationships with existing clients while contributing to new business.
What you’d do
- Lead strategic communications and media relations programs for top asset managers, wealth managers, and other financial services clients.
- Develop creative, proactive media strategies that generate consistent, high-impact coverage in top-tier business, financial, and trade media.
- Build and execute thought leadership campaigns for CEOs, CIOs, portfolio managers, strategists, and other senior executives.
- Serve as a highly responsive day-to-day client contact and lead client meetings and calls with the support of junior colleagues.
- Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of clients’ business and provide thoughtful counsel on communications strategy, messaging, reputation management, and media positioning.
- Cultivate and leverage relationships with leading financial journalists, editors, producers, and podcast hosts.
- Identify timely opportunities tied to market developments, economic news, and industry trends that position clients at the center of important conversations.
- Demonstrate strong strategic, analytical, and project management skills; take responsibility for a diverse number of projects and complete them in a timely manner with general direction from the account lead.
- Participate in the new business process by articulating strategies and tactics and displaying strong presentation skills during pitch meetings.
- Cultivate business growth opportunities among existing clients by introducing new services and capabilities.
- Manage operational performance of account teams. Ensure quality work, deadline adherence, effective processes, and that the team consistently meets or exceeds agreed upon expectations, deliverables, and metrics.
- Serve as a manager for junior professionals; provide onboarding support, training, and ongoing feedback, and participate in reviews.
- Act as a mentor for junior colleagues by modeling desired behavior; demonstrate a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to collegiality and a growth mindset.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement of professional and leadership skills; set and pursue stretch goals.

- You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- You have a minimum of seven years’ public relations or corporate communications experience, with at least four years in an account and people management role.
- You have substantial experience representing asset managers, wealth managers, or other financial services organizations.
- You have a proven track record securing high-profile coverage in top-tier business and financial media, including outlets such as CNBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Financial Times, Reuters, Yahoo Finance, and leading industry publications.
- You have exceptional media relationships with financial reporters, editors, producers, and influencers.
- You are highly curious, creative, and self-motivated, with superior critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a fluent understanding of how to motivate and problem solve.
- You are a strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex investment topics into compelling stories.
- You have a broad and thorough understanding of all facets of media relations and communications considerations for financial services organizations, with the ability to understand complex situations and anticipate client needs.
- You have demonstrated the ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables, effective team communication, and strong client service.
- You have proven experience counseling senior business leaders on communications matters.
- You have demonstrated strength as a writer; knowledge of AP style and the ability to proof, edit, and coach others’ writing abilities.
- You have a collaborative leadership style and a genuine desire to mentor junior professionals.
- Most importantly, you love financial communications and thrive in a fast-moving, high-performance environment.

The current annual base salary range for this position is $130,000-$140,000. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Infinite's total compensation package for employees.
