Description

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Engineer on our Development team, you'll lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems and components across the full product lifecycle. You'll own everything from CAD models and engineering drawings to prototype builds and production readiness — bridging the gap between engineering intent and shop-floor reality.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who's equally comfortable in front of a CAD workstation and on the production floor, collaborating with Development, Production, and external vendors to deliver products that are robust, manufacturable, and field-serviceable.

Why ICC-IMS:

  • Ownership from day one — you'll lead projects, not just support them
  • Cross-functional exposure across development, production, field, and customer-facing work
  • A collaborative team culture that values practical engineering and continuous improvement
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth

What you'll do:

  • Lead hardware, electrical, and mechanical design for complex product development projects
  • Create CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation for parts, assemblies, mounts, enclosures, and vehicle integrations
  • Provide electrical and system integration support — cable drawings, power distribution, grounding, wire harnesses, and PCB modifications
  • Integrate and troubleshoot sensors, cameras, lasers, GPS/IMU systems, radios, encoders, and related components
  • Support active production builds by resolving technical questions, fitment issues, part conflicts, and assembly bottlenecks in real time
  • Drive engineering change control — design improvements, drawing revisions, BOM updates, and legacy product support
  • Develop production-friendly work instructions, fixtures, jigs, and shop aids
  • Conduct root cause analysis and deliver design fixes for field-reported issues related to vibration, power, signal, and system performance
  • Evaluate supplier changes, alternate components, and make-versus-buy decisions; support purchasing and vendor communication

Why join us:

  • Ownership from day one — you'll lead projects, not just support them
  • Cross-functional exposure across development, production, field, and customer-facing work
  • A collaborative team culture that values practical engineering and continuous improvement
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth

Equal Opportunity Employer:

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in product or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong differentiator: Internship or co-op experience in a production environment is a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of engineering drawing standards and BOM management
  •  Electronics packaging knowledge — enclosure design, thermal dissipation, connector and cable management
  •  Working knowledge of electrical/wiring fundamentals: cable drawings, power distribution, grounding, fusing, connectors, and wire harnesses
  • Experience integrating and troubleshooting sensors, cameras, lasers, GPS/IMU systems, and similar hardware
  • Hands-on shop-floor aptitude — creating build instructions, fixtures, jigs, and resolving assembly issues during live builds

Soft Skills

  • Sharp attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Self-starter mindset with a bias toward action and problem-solving

Physical Requirements:

This role involves regular shop-floor and field work. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. independently; heavier loads with assistance or mechanical aid
  • Perform frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday
  •  Climb ladders or steps and work on or under vehicles and equipment
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination for fabrication, cutting, and assembly
  • Work in environments involving noise, heat, dust, fumes, confined spaces, or elevated positions typical of fabrication settings
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be legally authorized to operate company or customer vehicles
  •  Wear required PPE: safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear
