About the Role
HMM is looking for a motivated and results-driven Equipment Advisor to monitor, plan, and manage equipment assets across the region, to ensure operational efficiency while minimizing expenditures. Core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Monitor equipment inventories daily and determine needs based on provided factors
  • Plan surplus equipment for vessels as directed by management
  • Closely monitor and report on idling, damaged, and missing assets
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with other departments and external vendors to fulfill required duties
  • Assist truckers, shippers, and sales with equipment questions and help acquire needed equipment assets
  • Prepare, monitor, and analyze weekly reports in line with assigned KPIs
  • Review and audit invoices from vendors directly related to your region
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred but not required
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in container shipping or related industry

  • The Equipment Advisor uses strong communication skills daily to clearly explain complex equipment issues to vendors and other departments, ensuring they make informed decisions.
  • Analytical skills are essential for assessing equipment needs and forecasting demand
  • Technical knowledge allows the advisor to troubleshoot equipment reporting issues and provide accurate information.
  • Organizational skills are applied to manage equipment records, coordinate with internal teams, and track inventory demands effectively.
  • Proficiency with enterprise resource platforms enhances the advisor's ability to maintain up-to-date information and streamline third-party interactions.
  • Additionally, interpersonal skills foster trust and rapport with other teams, enabling the advisor to build lasting relationships that support overall business growth.

Additional Details
The pay range listed for this position is the anticipated starting salary or wage range, and the final offered rate will be based on individual merit and the relative compensation of employees in similar positions. HMM employee benefits include highly subsidized individual and family insurance coverage (medical, dental and vision), term life and disability insurance, 401k employer matching contributions, paid holidays, and up to 10 vacation days and six sick days in the first year.
