Construction Inspector / Resident Project Representative
The Construction Inspector will observe and report on construction activities for water and wastewater infrastructure to ensure contractor compliance with drawings and specifications. They are responsible for preparing daily reports, tracking material quantities, and coordinating with the project team and contractors.
Requirements
Candidates must have at least 5 years of construction observation experience and familiarity with civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering methods. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project is required, with a preference for degrees in engineering or construction science.

Hazen & Sawyer is seeking a Construction Inspector to support the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities and infrastructure. The selected candidate will inform the CM team by observing and reporting on construction activities, effectively coordinating and collaborating with the project team members, and providing documentation and inspection activities for various water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications and work plans to verify contractor compliance
Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities
Verify and track work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals
Observe contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements
Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, Time and Material (T&M) records and review contractor pay applications
Monitor construction contractor’s adherence to project schedule and sequence of activities related to daily field observations
Maintain project redline and as-built drawings
Coordinate and communicate effectively with the CM Project team, multi-discipline engineering teams, contractors and third-party inspection/testing firms
Assist and coordinate with project start-up, testing checkout and training activities
Maintain construction inspection and testing related documentation as necessary
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of construction / construction observation experience
Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering work
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Willing to travel to projects in the area as needed
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and related PC software packages used on construction projects
Experience in municipal water and wastewater or similar industry construction inspection preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. degree in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Building/Construction Science, or an Associate Degree in Engineering Science
Engineer In Training (EIT) or Construction Manager In Training (CMIT - Construction Manager Certification Institute/CMCI) Certification
