Full job description

Overview

Are you looking to take the next step in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join In.Comms, a new publication for in-house and internal communications professionals, as deputy editor. We are looking for a reasonably experienced and credible journalist who is ambitious, good with people and a future editorial leader.

In.Comms is a new editorial title and professional hub for comms professionals in the UK and EMEA regions who work in-house for organisations, including those responsible for external comms, corporate affairs, and with a particular emphasis on internal comms. Launched on 23 September 2025, In.Comms is a sister title to the now 40-year-old PRWeek UK. In.Comms features news, interviews, analysis, opinion and case studies distributed through its website, email bulletins and social media, alongside bespoke live events.

This will be a hands-on role with a broad remit, covering everything from writing, commissioning and editing through to helping the editor to set the strategic direction of the publication and being a key face and voice for In.Comms at both our own and external events.

An essential part of this role will be driving the strategy and engagement within the internal communications sector, with both professionals in this area and the wider supporting industry.

In.Comms is a new editorial brand from the PRWeek and Campaign stable focused on in-house and internal comms professionals. Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and fast-developing technology, in-house comms professionals are becoming more senior and increasingly influential within their organisations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Key focus on strategy and engagement within the internal communications sector
  • Write news and features for the In.Comms website and daily bulletins
  • Commission and edit copy from freelancers and industry opinion writers
  • Monitor analytics data to ensure editorial content is reaching and engaging its audience
  • Assist the editor in setting the strategic direction of In.Comms and the effective operation of the editorial team
  • Helping drive In.Comms forward by ensuring strong engaging content and building a strong network among the target audience and wider media
  • Be a ‘hands-on’ representative of the editor, making decisions in her absence
  • Develop strong relationships with key editorial, account management and commercial personnel
  • Assist the editor in hosting conferences, panel discussions, webinars, roundtables, podcasts and other live events

Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria

  • Previous experience working full-time in an editorial role for an established media brand
  • Understanding of the marketing and communications industry, including proven experience of writing about the sector, would be a big advantage.
  • Preferably have some experience within the internal communications sector
  • Excellent writing, commissioning, editing and proofreading skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Adaptability and a willingness to take on different tasks
  • Willingness to collaborate with commercial, marketing and communications colleagues
  • Ability to take responsibility in the absence of the editor
  • Experience in hosting webinars, podcasts or other live events

We are a Disability Confident employer and offer guaranteed interviews to all disabled applicants who meet the above minimum criteria.

To be considered as part of this initiative, please ensure you indicate if you have a disability when applying for the post. If you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to fully participate in the recruitment process, please contact us at [email protected].
