Business Development Representative – Logistics & Transportation – Montreal, Quebec



Gillship Navigation is a leading NVOCC consolidator in the Canadian market. Founded in 1981 to provide consolidation services for both import and export cargo, we have expanded our global network to offer those services worldwide.

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Executive to expand our presence throughout Province of Quebec, the Maritimes and Ottawa. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sales professional who thrives on building relationships, developing new business, and creating long-term customer partnerships.

The successful candidate will possess a strong sales orientation, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to earn a client's trust while positioning Gillship Navigation as the preferred NVOCC partner in Canada.

This is a hybrid position.
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Who We're Looking For

We are open to both experienced transportation sales professionals and ambitious individuals who are eager to build a successful career in logistics sales. While previous NVOCC or freight forwarding sales experience is considered an asset, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong passion for sales, business development, and the transportation industry.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proactive, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial mindset
  • The confidence to prospect, cold call, and develop new business opportunities
  • A desire to learn the logistics, transportation, and international shipping industry
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
  • A customer-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.
  • Prospect and establish relationships with international freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.
  • Generate new business through phone calls, networking, referrals, and in-person meetings.
  • Qualify prospective customers and provide competitive pricing and service solutions.
  • Conduct regular client visits and maintain ongoing communication with existing customers.
  • Ensure customer expectations are met through proactive account management and collaboration with internal teams.
  • Work closely with operations and inside sales personnel to support customer requirements and business growth.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions as a representative of Gillship Navigation.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity records, forecasts, and reports.
  • Consistently develop profitable new business opportunities throughout Western Canada.



Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sales, business development, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or NVOCC services is preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a sales territory.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable with travel within the area of Quebec, Eastern Provinces and Ottawa
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

À titre de Spécialiste du développement des affaires NVOCC, vous serez responsable d'identifier, de qualifier et de développer de nouvelles opportunités d'affaires tout en maintenant de solides relations avec les clients existants. Vous travaillerez en étroite collaboration avec nos équipes des opérations et des ventes internes afin d'offrir un service exceptionnel et des solutions d'expédition adaptées aux besoins de nos clients.

Responsabilités principales

  • Développer et gérer un pipeline d'opportunités de vente qualifiées.
  • Prospecter et établir des relations avec des transitaires internationaux, des courtiers en douane et des fournisseurs de services logistiques.
  • Générer de nouvelles occasions d'affaires par téléphone, par réseautage, par recommandations et lors de rencontres en personne.
  • Qualifier les clients potentiels et leur proposer des solutions de transport et de tarification compétitives.
  • Effectuer des visites régulières chez les clients et maintenir une communication continue avec les comptes existants.
  • Veiller à répondre aux attentes des clients grâce à une gestion proactive des comptes et à une collaboration étroite avec les équipes internes.
  • Travailler en collaboration avec les équipes des opérations et des ventes internes afin de soutenir les besoins des clients et la croissance de l'entreprise.
  • Participer à des événements de l'industrie, salons commerciaux et activités de réseautage à titre de représentant de Gillship Navigation.
  • Maintenir à jour les activités de vente, les prévisions et les rapports.
  • Développer continuellement de nouvelles occasions d'affaires rentables à travers le Québec et les provinces de l'Est.

Qualifications

  • Expérience en ventes, développement des affaires, transit de fret, logistique, transport ou services NVOCC, un atout.
  • Excellentes aptitudes pour le développement de relations d'affaires et le service à la clientèle.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication verbale, écrite et en présentation.
  • Grande autonomie et capacité à gérer un territoire de vente de façon indépendante.
  • Excellentes compétences organisationnelles et de gestion du temps.
  • Disponible pour se déplacer à travers le Québec et les provinces de l'Est.
  • Permis de conduire valide et véhicule fiable.
  • Bilinguisme français et anglais obligatoire.
