Join Victoria's Specialist Forensic Mental Health Service
As part of a significant expansion of services at Thomas Embling Hospital, Forensicare is recruiting 11 Clinical Support Workers to strengthen our Hospital Directorate and support the delivery of safe, recovery-focused care.
Forensicare is Victoria's specialist provider of forensic mental health services, supporting people with serious mental illness who are connected to, or at risk of contact with, the justice system through hospital and community-based services.
This expansion presents a unique opportunity to join a growing team and play a critical role in creating safe, therapeutic and recovery-oriented environments for consumers receiving care at Thomas Embling Hospital.
About the Role
As a Clinical Support Worker, you will be part of a dedicated Clinical Support Team deployed across hospital units as required. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support consumer recovery, contribute to hospital safety and assist with the prevention and management of occupational violence and aggression.
This dynamic role is well suited to people who remain calm under pressure, value teamwork and are committed to person-centred care within a secure mental health environment. The position operates on a rotating roster including weekends and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Support the prevention and management of aggression and violence through proactive and responsive strategies.
Assist with incident response, de-escalation and approved physical interventions under supervision.
Conduct environmental safety checks and support hospital safety processes.
Monitor and report behavioural changes to support consumer care and risk management.
Participate in group programs, activities and recovery-focused interventions.
Support visitor management and emergency response procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to effective handovers.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, security staff and emergency services.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
Certificate III in Security Operations or Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.
The ability to build positive relationships and engage effectively with consumers.
Physical and mental capability to safely manage occupational violence and aggression.
A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Sound computer skills and attention to documentation.
Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Previous experience in mental health, corrections or security environments will be highly regarded.
