Lead industry-engaged research on how mining activities like drilling and blasting impact archaeological sites and culturally significant places. Collaborate with Traditional Owners and industry partners to improve cultural heritage assessment and management in active mining landscapes.
Requires a PhD in Archaeology or a related discipline with a demonstrated research profile through peer-reviewed publications. Candidates must be able to conduct extended fieldwork in remote environments and possess experience working with Indigenous peoples.
Flinders University is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Archaeology to join the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Archaeology in the Resources Sector. This $18 million initiative brings together universities, Indigenous partners and industry to transform how cultural heritage is understood and managed in the resources sector.
In this position, you will lead industry-engaged research exploring how mining activities such as drilling and blasting impact archaeological sites and culturally significant places. Working closely with industry partners and Traditional Owners, you will help generate new insights that directly improve cultural heritage assessment, protection and management in active mining landscapes.

Experience working with Indigenous peoples and an understanding of Indigenous data sovereignty principles will be highly regarded. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.
