The HR Administrator is responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in a wide range of administrative and operational functions. This role ensures the smooth and efficient delivery of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, payroll support, and compliance with organizational policies and employment legislation.

In addition to core HR responsibilities, the HR Administrator plays an important role in promoting a positive and healthy workplace by supporting staff wellness initiatives, employee engagement activities, and programs that enhance overall well-being and workplace culture.

The HR Administrator serves as a key point of contact for employees and external partners on HR-related matters, providing timely, accurate, and professional administrative support to both the HR team and the broader organization.

Summary of Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as primary contact for all employees respecting the organization’s policies and benefit plan, ensuring appropriate information, advice and follow up to Employees
  • Answer employees’ queries about HR-related issues
  • Administer benefits program, communicate changes to staff, assist with claims
  • Assist with benefits renewal process, liaising with external partners (benefit and insurance)
  • Organize and maintain personnel records
  • Manage and maintain the HR Information System time reporting program
  • Prepare HR documents including Employment Agreements, amendments and addendums
  • Prepare, post and distribute, recruitment notices, internally and externally
  • Recruit, pre-screening, interviewing and reference checking
  • Coordinate and conduct new hire onboarding, including prepare welcome packages
  • Annual review, update and maintenance of Human Resources Policy Manual and other policies and forms to ensure they are current and meet legal requirements
  • Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics (e.g. turnover rates, staff composition)
  • Assist payroll department by providing relevant employee information when required
  • Contribute to a cohesive, creative and robust team structure
  • Perform any additional administrative duties consistent with human resource administration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian labour laws and employment standards required
  • Ability to work with different teams, strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams)
  • Two or more years of experience working in or closely with First Nations people and communities with demonstrated cultural knowledge and competencies is required
  • Completion of a successful Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Welfare Check
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and drivers abstract is required.
